If you are looking to sell your property with Prospect Estate Agents in Reading! Do not go with them! I had a call back from them to follow up on the valuation they gave me! The estate agent on the phone was going on and on and on trying to get me to go with them when I already chose an estate agent! They were bad mouthing the estate agent I went with too! This is very unprofessional! I was dealing with an estate agent called Toby from Reading! He was going on and on and on! When I was happy with my decision to go with the estate agent I wanted! They even called the estate agent I went with liars!!! This is very unprofessional attitude! Should have just said “thank you and yes that’s fine” not go on and on about this! Trying to sell and sell! I would never go with you now on this basis! They were trying to put my property on the market for £20k less than i wanted it on for too!! Terrible and unprofessional to bad mouth a competitive business Edit: Dated 1st April 2025 another estate agent from Prospect called Luke today called me up! He called me up 3 times!! When I told him leave me alone and don’t contact me again!!! He called me 3 times!!! This is now harassment and I am going to get the police involved!!!
This agent will do everything possible to keep your deposit. Despite paying for professional cleans, decorating and spending more time making your old house nice and shiny instead of getting your new house ready to be lived in, they will take you to the cleaners literally. Do not use Prospect. We were evicted at Christmas after 10 months on a 3 year term, we had a leaking conservatory for 10 months, (which made our sofa mouldy and it went to the tip) loads of people came to quote but never to fix (until the week before we were moving suddenly its being fixed) We had drains that didn't drain and our shower was regularly a bath full that didn't release water, this went on for many months. We moved into a flooded kitchen with a dishwasher left in the middle off the kitchen which didn't fit under the unit so we had to ask for it to be removed and get a smaller one. Turned out the reason the dishwasher was flooding the kitchen was because it wasn't plumbed in correctly. We paid a professional plumber to sort the plumbing issues and a professional contractor to put TVs on walls etc to ensure no damage. We moved into an unfurnished house full of furniture which we were expected to just keep. We were told the landlord is selling when actually he let his family move in. Prospect have harassed us for the most ridiculous things such us 'all of the window keys' which were never provided, a radiator cap? a light bulb? seriously? They want us to send another cleaner to clean while the landlords family are now living there? Making us feel like we trashed the house, like we were not clean people. We left that house immaculate and the landlord has confirmed he is happy with the condition yet the agents are relentless and despite us paying £450 on professional cleaning the carpets, professional clean of the house and decorating all at Christmas, making Christmas pretty crap, while finding a deposit to move they still want £500 from us! People forget tenants have invested a lot of money into 1 property and we had moved into the area from London this same year too so new jobs, money was tight, all our savings were in the house and it takes time to be in a position to move again, but we didn't cause a fuss, we vacated even despite the fact we were told 'how sorry the landlord is, he will be flexible and let us stay on or go early. We finally secured a house after searching frantically over Christmas to be told, no they wont let you leave early! I had to argue the fact we were told we could leave early so we agreed a date and now its a NO? Finally we compromised on 1 week but jeez! this isn't good for anyones mental health. Honestly, in my 20 years being an agent myself and over 20 years renting properties personally I have never ever experienced anything like this. I would never recommend this agent to anyone because they are very efficient and fast at securing the business but I am not surprised to see how many people have had similar issues to us. This was our first maritial home and it was an absolute nightmare. Their cleaning company even said it, they're over the top and always do this to tenants. Two cleaning companies wouldn't take on the additional clean prospect have suggested due to it not being a job worth doing, the house is clean!
I rented a flat from Prospect and vacated it on December 14th, its been 2 months and they didn't return my holding deposit yet, they inspected the property along with the landlord when I handed over the keys to them, and said in a week we …
They could not be less professional, and insist on tying their hands behind their backs using the useless GoodLord web site for references. Most renters require 30 times the monthly rent. If you're shopping for a house at 3,000 pm, you'll need 90,000GBP. Anyone with that capital would have it investing in the stock market. That's not acceptable for GoodLord. You'll have to sell all your shares and convert them to cash. Absolutely ridiculous. So you're living in your new house losing earnings every day? I don't think so.

We rented a property through Prospect (Winnersh) for 2.5yrs and obviously as a tenant you have no say in who manages your property. However I am also a landlady of 3 others properties so could also observe from the other side and felt that for the amount of money our landlord was paying them each month they did very little. We had endless problems with heating and plumbing and were often just told “phone British Gas yourselves”. For the last SIX MONTHS of our tenancy the toilet in our en-suite did not flush properly and the saga trying to get it repaired was an absolute joke. However when you are paying £30k a year in rent I think the least you can expect is a flushing toilet. On our last inspection a member of the sales team also turned up completely un-announced and told me “he was just observing as he was interested in the knowing what the rental team did”. We suspected at the time he was actually valuing the property, so no surprise when we were told a few weeks later that we were having to move out because the landlord was selling. However the fact that this man came into our home un-invited and un-announced and lied to my face shows total lack of honest and integrity. We have now been left the property for two months, we looked after it well and left it better than we found it. We know the final check up inspection was done weeks ago but Prospect are ignoring all our communication in relation to the return of our deposit, we have called and left voicemails, and emailed about it - yet zero response whilst our deposit still sits in their bank account!!! We are now renting through Sears and the improvement in service, response and communication is unbelievable. They are 100% better. Sorry but can’t recommend Prospect at all, lack of communication & service, total lack of integrity from the sales department, and their lack of honesty continues in now withholding the return of our deposit with absolutely no reason or communication.
I would say zero star! Maidenhead branch took details twice in different months never bothered to come back. Only time i got such experience from estate team.
Enquired about a property to be told it's under offer. A week later the property still had not been updated so enquired again, it's now had an offer accepted. Property still not updated on online portals, showing as available. This is against Rightmove rules and the agent is doing it to get more exposure.
