Very disappointing experience. Communication was poor, important billing information was unclear, and I felt misinformed throughout the process. After paying through Homebox, I was left to deal directly with the supplier to resolve the issue myself. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this service.

If i could give them zero stars i would. I havent had a single person tell me they had a good experience. I’m exhausted of this company and constant issues.
I wish I had read the reviews. They did not have one supplier registered. Took the payments from me monthly but never paid my gas bill - which is now 1200+ pounds. And in my homebox wallet I have 940 pounds just sitting with them. They didnt contact me during the last 12 months to even say they are sitting on extra money. Council tax - they've been paying 20 pounds extra every month since last one year. No record. I thought this service was for people who wanted admin off their shoulders due to super busy schedule. But you have to be super vigilant, upload every mail, bill and then follow up. Its more admin heavy to deal with homebox than to do it yourself. Now I want out - but the number to disconnect and get a refund (940 pounds) in my wallet is never working. So while I can stop payments to homebox, I dont know how to get the money they owe me. Stuck in this mess. Dont have an exit.
I truly cannot say enough horrible things about Homebox. They consistently did not pay my bills on time, resulting in me drastically overpaying and not having heat in the winter. They also did not close my account correctly when I moved out and I would've missed out on over £700 in credit if I hadn't reached out to the utility company myself months after moving out. They severely lack transparency and I would not recommend their services to anyone.
You are scammers you scammed me for 5 months and you stopped paying British gas. You cannot be reached by telephone 📞 at all. People must stop using these SCAMMERS SCAMMERS …
The company is misleading and a trap for first-time buyers. Whilst preparing to move into our flat as first time renters we were excited when we were contacted by a extremely polite gentleman working for Homebox who proposed to us the service where they would handle all our bills with them being easy to access and manage for a small £10 charge. What followed has been a tragedy of management, a waste of time and money. Over the last 8 months we have been overcharged £881.36 of which £587.25 is owed to EDF Energy, our Gas & Electric provider as debit but is yet to be paid by Homebox. Further, they failed to correctly set up our bills despite guaranteeing that all we needed to provide was a photo of our first statement. Since then their inaction has nearly incurred fees on multiple occasions with our utility providers. I never almost never write reviews but I have written this out of pure frustration.
I used Homebox(CheaterBox) to manage all utility bills at my rental property from July 2025. I am writing this review to share my experience honestly so others can make an informed decision. Unauthorised British Gas account on my credit file- In October 2025, I specifically requested that both my gas and electricity be managed under Octopus Energy. Instead, Homebox opened a British Gas account in my name without informing me, without my consent, and without any notification — no email, no letter, no phone call. I only discovered this account existed in May 2026 when I checked my Experian credit profile. When I raised this, I was told their terms allow them to switch to any supplier they choose. That may be the case, but there is no excuse for not notifying a customer when an account is registered in their name on their credit file. Bills not being paid to suppliers__ Despite paying Homebox every month by direct debit, I had to repeatedly chase them after suppliers confirmed they had received no payments. On one occasion, Eon told me directly they had not received a single payment since my tenancy began. Every time I raised this, I was told funds were "being processed" — only for the same issue to arise again. Undisclosed charges__ I identified discrepancies between what Homebox recorded as paid out to Octopus Energy and what Octopus actually received. When I questioned this, I was informed that a £30 monthly commission is deducted from energy payments — on top of the £10 monthly service fee I was already paying. This was never clearly communicated to me directly. Poor customer service__ Getting a straight answer required repeated follow-ups across several months. Phone calls went unanswered. I was frequently directed to an AI chatbot or told to check the dashboard — a dashboard that, as I later found out, does not accurately reflect what suppliers actually receive. I have now raised a formal complaint and am escalating to the Energy Ombudsman and the Information Commissioner's Office. I have already resolved my accounts directly with Octopus, Affinity Water, and Luton Borough Council, and I am working to resolve the British Gas situation Homebox created. I trusted Cheaterbox to manage my bills. That trust was not honoured. Update in response to Homebox's reply: Thank you for your public response. I need to address each point you have made, as they are either incomplete or misleading. **"Supplier details were clearly visible on your customer portal"** This does not address my complaint. My issue is not that I could not find supplier names on a dashboard. My issue is that a British Gas account was opened in my name and registered on my Experian credit profile without me receiving any prior notification — no email, no letter, no phone call. Visibility on a portal is not the same as being informed that a new account is being opened in my name. **"Your account history does not reflect successful monthly payments"** I paid Homebox by direct debit every month from July 2025. My final payment was on 5 December 2025 — a date your own team confirmed in writing. I stopped paying after repeated failures to forward funds to suppliers, including Eon confirming directly to me that they had received no payments at all. I did not stop paying arbitrarily — I stopped because I had lost all confidence that my money was reaching the correct suppliers. **"Gas supply could not be moved due to an outstanding balance"** This is the first time I have been given this explanation — it was never communicated to me at the time, despite multiple contacts with your team in October and November 2025. Had you informed me of this reason, I could have taken steps to resolve it. Instead I was simply told the switch was "in progress." The failure to communicate this is exactly the problem. **"Switched to the most competitive tariff available"** Choosing a tariff on my behalf is not the same as having permission to open a new account in my name without telling me. I was never informed before or after the British Gas account was created.
I did a lot of research before switching, and the reviews for AgentOS were decent. It seems that since then, its all gone downhill - our experiences seem to match others which are similar. Main issues: 1. No support whatsoever once you're onboarded. Phones are never answered, emails are rarely responded to and when they are its a 4-5 day lead time. If you have a problem that is stopping you advertising a property or paying a landlord, you're going to be stuck and people are going to be calling you angry. 2. The data import was expensive and awful - a bunch of our stuff was added but with details wrong, included tenancies not signed, percentage fees wrong, etc. We were told AgentOS would handle the import, which they did, we were also told they'd be on hand afterwards to help us fix problems that arose. They weren't. The agent we were assigned to help us with the transfer basically told us they were done and to contact support - who as stated don't reply. 3. Setting up the portals (Zoopla and Rightmove) took nearly 2 months, despite repeated chasing by both us and the portals. AgentOS sat on their part for a while and never really explained anything. 4. They missed the deadline for setting it up. Our software had a cutoff date, which we rolled past and had to make do for a while. 5. Training is a bit subpar, in that there really isn't anything formal besides online documentation. What they do well: 1. The system has an API that you can access quite easily using node, something that I've had a lot of fun with personally but then I'm a nerd. 2. It genuinely is all cloud based, and a lot of stuff can be automated (provided you know how to code automation using APIs) 3. They forget to bill you sometimes We're signed in for 2 years, I'm considering rocking the boat to see if we can get out early but at the same time if it settles into a rhythm it might not be necessary. I'm just aware that this has cost a lot of sleepless nights for multiple people at the business, and has also cost us a lot of business in terms of Landlords complaining about being charged the wrong amounts, not getting their rents, or their properties not being advertised promptly. If you're looking for an easy switch, I'd be tempted to look away from this one and perhaps look towards a PSG offering (Alto, Jupix, etc). EDIT: AgentOS have responded to my review (Ironically faster than they responded to a support ticket on these issues) and a lot of their comments are fair. 1. Some of the issues that arose from onboarding were related to our source data, but the ones we're specifically trying to resolve weren't. Specifically the management fees - which in some cases have been changed to random figures that don't match our source data. In one example, the source data says 5%, it was originally put at 5%, then as part of an attempt to repair it was changed to 10%. This is the owner of the business, they've never paid 10%. There are a few issues like this where the issue doesn't match the original data, these are the ones that I think prospective clients should be aware of. 2. The pace of the onboarding wasn't the issue so much as the pace of the import. We supplied data on 16th March (off the top of my head, maybe a day or two out), wanted to be live "Before April", discussed with Ian that we'd want to be live a week ro so before, but the import was done on March 31st. We can see that our end. 3. The trainer spent a lot of time with us, but we did pay for 5 hours so I'm not really sure why this is relevant. If there was a formal system we weren't able to get it - we actually emailed asking for formal training on specific days and never got a response. 4. To be clear, while I think the on-boarding could be better, it wouldn't be nearly as problematic if we were able to obtain support. Phonecalls go unanswered, emails go unresponded, and the fact that it took nearly 2 months to get the portals up and running sort of evidences this. We've lost business and instructions because of AgentOS's poor support service. If things improve I will adjust this review.
Would give 0 stars if possible. They've just been upping our council tax bill because they didn't think ahead to let the council know different tenants were moving in and as such the council has apparently undercharged us. All this, and yet theyve never contacted me directly about it until i lodged several complaints. However, the only responses i got were just further increases and further evodence of homeboxes incompetence. Avoid if possible. Preferably get them shut down... Update: still just as bad as everyone says. Can't give simple answers when asked, and reply to complaints with ai generated apologies which still don't answer your questions. Makes me wonder why theres a service fee when theres no service.
