Unhappy tenant

I rented a house from Move Now and mostly they didn't seem bad. They were a bit slow to come in and sort issues and their charges were high, though from what I have seen, probably about average. The trouble came when I moved out though. They tried to blame me for damage to the house which hadn't been there when I moved out and tried to keep a large chunk of the deposit. Fortunately they were ruled against and I eventually received the money back, but I would never trust them again.

Hello Danny Thank you for taking the time to review our company on Rateragent. I am very sorry to hear you left as a unhappy tenant but I do appreciate your feedback. I would like to take this opportunity to advise you the process of the Deposit Protection Service (the company who held your bond) As we take your bond on behalf of the landlord we have to work for them and request the bond to be deducted as they request, even if we do not agree with them. (This information can be verified by speaking to The Deposit Protection Service 0370 7071677) I appreciate the end of your tenancy did not end well and the landlord requested we deducted money from your bond. As a company who fully manage properties as part of our service to the tenant we insist the bonds must be held with the DPS. This is so if landlords try to take money from your bond which they are not entitled to, your money is protected and the DPS decide who the money should be refunded to. In your case they agreed and you received the bond back. We do this in the hope that tenants understand it is not ourselves trying to keep your money. I do hope you understand now that we did not try to keep your bond and if you do agree to our comments it would be greatly appreciated if you were to amend your review. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you wish to discuss this further. 01924 249349 Sam@movenowproperties.com

My partner and I are not happy with how Billie has handled our situation of applying for a property over the last couple of weeks, we have been emailing her and been getting no response from 4 emails now and every time we call she's not taking out calls, we were informed she was working over the weekend but didn't respond back? She tried calling us on Friday evening, both our phones rang for less than 30 seconds instead of waiting longer she decided to email us I feel like she could have tried calling a little longer. We are financially in a tough spot now because we have to be moved out of our property less than 1 week they've taken our deposit which my partner and I am saved up for, I have now called and been informed that the property we have paid a deposit on has been taken by another tenant, I've asked if we could have our deposit back due to our circumstances in writing, Billie didn't speak to ask but got another employee to deliver the answer which was no, in a way I guess this has helped us because we wouldn't want an agency that can't have compassion in these circumstances. I would like this complaint taken further or I would like to speak to a complaints manager. Responding to reply- Thank you the response, communication is so important And if Billie had taken time out of her day to contact me or take any of my few calls like you have done this outcome of this bad review would have been different regardless I'm not happy with the service we received.

Hello Selina, Thank you for sharing your feedback. I’m genuinely sorry to hear about your experience, and I’d like to provide some clarity. After reviewing your application, we received a negative reference from your current landlord, which indicated concerns regarding the maintenance of the property and damage to the carpets. Based on this information, our landlord made the decision not to proceed with your tenancy. We understand that you provided photographs and your inventory as requested, and we appreciate your cooperation. However, despite these efforts, the landlord remained firm in their decision. Once we received the final instruction from the landlord, we attempted to contact you and your partner via phone. Unfortunately, we were unable to reach you, and with the weekend approaching, we sent an email to ensure timely communication. Regarding the reservation fee, as per the application agreement you signed, this is non-refundable in the case of a negative reference. Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions or require additional clarification. We appreciate your understanding and wish you all the best moving forward.

Avoid this estate agent at all costs! My experience with Gemma Carter (Assistant Manager) and Samantha Moate (Managing Director) has been appalling. The boiler hasn’t worked properly since I moved in, and I was told to buy an oil heater at my own expense and wait 23 days for a repair. A collapsed roof with water dripping onto electricals wires was met with no urgency. Gemma failed to address these critical issues, and Samantha called me to discuss the problems but was rude, hostile, and talked over me the entire time. They clearly think it’s acceptable to live in a property with a non-functioning boiler, a leaking roof, and mould and damp throughout. The property was clearly not checked before being rented out, leaving my daughter and me in unsafe and uninhabitable conditions. Their lack of professionalism and disregard for tenant welfare is disgraceful—this so-called 'estate agent' should be ashamed of how they treat their tenants. I've attached pictures of the boiler that the Managing Director claimed was not on the inventory report, and also some pictures as to how the property was on day 1.

Not a nice experience trying getting accomodation.Reservstion fee never refunded .Background check not done properly.

Hello Abideen, we are sorry to read this review! The referencing failed as you / your partner was in rent arrears at your current property at the time I am afraid. Due to this we were unable to proceed. The reservation fee is a none refundable which you were aware of, it was also stated in the application forms you both signed.

Read your contract with these people. Even if they give you a form to sign separately ensure that all agreements are in the contract. They are fraudulent

THIEFS We attempted to rent via movenow, They outsource their referencing to Rightmove and it was a farce from the word go. Asked to provide annual gross income, however our contracted hours and pay don’t align as we both do significant overtime. So why ask for gross pay? Resulted in us losing a property and they refused to return our £250 holding deposit. Rightmove refused to accept payslips as proof of earnings, so how can you ask for gross earning and then not accept a payslip that shows it? Refused to accept anything but bank statements and 12 months of them to take into account our overtime hours. Why would we go ahead with something we couldn’t afford? We rent a property for slightly less now and passed referencing no problem. They asked for 3 payslips per person to prove an average monthly gross. Simple. Thief’s.

Hello Samuel, Unfortunately, your referencing did not pass due to the nature of your zero-hour contract, which does not provide guaranteed income. Although we understand you are currently working full-time hours, this type of contract means hours and income could change at any time, which impacted the referencing outcome as your income is not guaranteed. As outlined in the initial forms you signed, the reservation fee is non-refundable if the reference does not pass due to the employment check. We wish you all the best in your property search.

Word of warning if you are thinking of buying through this estate agent then maybe think twice as they seem to allow multiple offers to be accepted on a house at the same time giving both buyers the run around to prove funds, only to be told our offer has been rejected for a lower offer as the seller has changed their mind. Further to that we have had two confirmation emails confirming our offer has been accepted including solicitors being instructed however that seems to mean nothing. If a property comes up with this agent again we will be thinking twice about using them.

Hello Steve I am sorry to read your review and very saddened to hear you feel this way As the office manager when you contacted me to book a second viewing we made you fully aware the vendor was reviewing an offer and we were just awaiting buyers proofs. As you requested a second viewing the vendor was happy to accommodate this. As a proud family run company we never have intentions of misleading any clients and are truely transparent with all the information given. Again I’m sorry your offer was not accepted on this occasion however we would delighted to assist you in the future should you wish to purchase another property from us.
