Do not let your property out through Streets Ahead. You’ve been warned.
Terrible experience. I recently moved into a property managed by Streets Ahead, and the experience has been frustrating. Since moving in, several issues have been raised, yet there has been a severe lack of urgency in addressing them. Despite multiple follow-ups, we are yet to receive a proper timeline for repairs. The property was handed over to us in a poor state—one of the bedrooms has a patched-up wall from a previous leak, which a part remains covered with tape, making it unfit for setting up furniture. The bathroom light is out due to an electrical fault from a prior leak, and we were told this was noted before we moved in, yet it hasn’t been fixed. Additionally, the washing machine, which is the landlord’s responsibility, has not been replaced or repaired, leaving us unable to do laundry for weeks. The windows in the first bedroom are fogged up due to a sealant issue, making the room colder than it should be, and some window handles were faulty, with only some fixed while others left. The agency has been nonchalant, failing to provide clear communication or a timeframe, which has made settling in unnecessarily stressful. When we ask for clarification, they vaguely state what they are and aren’t responsible for, without properly listing what will actually be fixed. Property was viewed twice with tenants inside who had furniture covering some of these issue. However the inventory done before the previous tenants moved out, street ahead was noted of the issue but they did not fix it, for reasons best known to them. This is unacceptable for new tenants. We expected a livable space and responsible management, but instead, we have had to chase basic repairs and deal with delays. I would not recommend this agency based on my experience. I’m being asked to reach out to an email when your office is already fully aware of the email trail sent before this review. Those emails are filled with details and pictures. What matters now is action on our complaint, not just written apologies with no follow-through.
Absolutely wouldn't rent from these, wouldn't trust them to walk a dog. Won't sort anything out, staff won't do anything, except demand money. Flat sub standard with issues, didn't wanna know, ignoring when requesting deposit back. Do not rent from these if you value stability and peace of mind, left hand had no clue what the right hand is doing
Worst experience just because we didn't like the property after viewing & he started speaking rubbish & was agresssive over phone & when my husband told that we will record your call the guy immediately disconnected the call...worst customer representatives i have ever come across. I could have given minus rating if possible.
The absolute worst! Very disappointed as I was recommended to use as the team in Crystal Palace are incredible. This branch - unresponsive, unreliable and unprofessional. And if you do choose to, please familiarise yourself with the complaints procedure as you will need to use it!
Avoid, never helpful, only care about taking your money and that’s the only time you hear from them, other than that you can never get any communication with them. Didn’t bother to contact me at the end of the tenancy, and when I contacted them nobody know who was dealing with my account. I will not be using them again to rent or to let and will not be recommending them in the local community.
Streets Ahead Croydon: Seemed nice and friendly initially when trying to get you on board but with hindsight we should never have gone with Streets Ahead. Poor communicator, had to constantly chase for updates, essentially doing the job they are paid to do, lack of pro-activity, poor customer service, sometimes rude, aggressive and dismissive. They ultimately played a key part in the whole chain breaking down eventually, through poor relationship management - the whole chain were frustrated with them. Would recommend avoiding this estate agent at all costs, we won’t consider doing business with them again, having been burned once. Avoid. We even had to chase them to take away their own for sale sign, after a week of it sitting there - sums it all up really.
If there was a zero review I would have gone for that. The experience from start till now has been filled with lies and deceit. Katraielle Grant From Croydon lied to us and got us to pay to deposit by saying that the landlord has accepted our offer and then the next day emailing us to say that she tried calling us to say that the landlord cannot move out of property on agreed date. She didn't attend any of our calls or responded to our email. I am trying to get my deposit back. They're a scam. Stay away from all of these guys.
Katraielle initially very polite and helpful but somehow knew something wasn't right with regards to proposed property, unanswered questions and vague responses if any. Out of pocket with regards deposit paid, still awaiting refund and have filed a complaint through their so called 'complaints procedure'. Not fit for purpose. On top of that after waiting for responses she informed me that she'd had resigned 👀🙄
Avoid at all cost! One star because I cannot go lower. They don't do their due diligence, they don't answer emails or return calls, and they lie. If you have any issues with your property you will have to chase them nonstop for months and months for repairs. They cause issues and don't take responsibility: they blame the tenant when they talk to the landlord, and they blame the landlord when they talk to the tenant. There are Glassdoor reviews from previous Streets Ahead agents which confirm that this is their modus operandi. They also don't comply with their statutory requirements under the law, and with the tenancy agreement. I moved out of my apartment more than 4 weeks ago and I still have not received my deposit. I was not allowed to be present while the checkout inspection was conducted even though they were obliged to give me that option. They are only just informing me of the intention to deduct from my deposit (they should have informed within ten working days of the end of tenancy) for issues that I don't recognise and which were not my responsibility because they were only identified after the current tenant moved in. They are unwilling to mediate the deposit negotiations between the landlord and I even though this is the job of a letting agent, so now we are in a dispute process involving TDS and the property Ombudsman, for issues which were entirely caused by Streets Ahead. Letting agencies like this one should not exist. EDIT: Streets Ahead has had de audacity to respond to this comment even though I still don't have my deposit two months after I moved out. Absolutely no shame. Give me my deposit back already!!
