Avoid this agency at all costs. I paid a £461.53 holding deposit to Streets Ahead to secure a rental property and was assured by the agent that referencing came back fine on WhatsApp and that I should give my notice. Based on this, I gave notice on my current home. She then came back stating that my housing reference came back that I had one late payment in 4 years so I have a conditional offer (not failed), and they changed the terms of the agreement — suddenly demanding 3–6 months’ rent upfront and a guarantor, which were never discussed beforehand - as well as security deposit. This would have been £8.5k minimum to be paid. This was not something we could afford and felt like a drastic change in terms. When I shared this was an issue they then said they could do flatfair for us to waiver the security deposit - I had asked about flatfair the previous Sunday and was told it wasn't available. When I was no longer able to proceed under these revised terms, they refused to refund my holding deposit and wrongly claimed the Tenant Fees Act 2019 does not apply to holding deposits — which is simply false. Their communication was inconsistent, unprofessional, and misleading throughout. This experience has left me at risk of being without a home. I would not recommend Streets Ahead to anyone looking for transparency, professionalism, or ethical practice. And only because I don't believe in pulling down young women I will hold out on sharing the agents full name.

I was really disappointed with my experience at this estate agency. I wanted to work with them, but after reading recent reviews, I approached with caution. I spoke with someone named Plavo, and unfortunately, he was not very helpful at all. Despite his promises to provide updates, I found myself making multiple calls to get any information. I reached out starting at 9 AM, and after a lot of back and forth, we were still in the dark by 11 AM. I have a job and simply don’t have the time to chase after updates. It's frustrating when you're relying on professionals to handle your concerns. If you're considering this agency, I would suggest looking into others, like Move Revolution, who seem to have a better reputation for customer service. Save yourself the hassle!

I had a very disappointing experience with this agency. After signing the tenancy agreement, completing referencing, paying the deposit, and receiving verbal and written confirmation of a move-in date, I was informed just one day before moving that there was an issue with the property. Despite repeatedly checking in throughout the week, I received no updates. My wife and I had already packed, taken time off work, and even removed our names from our previous accommodation. The lack of communication, last-minute cancellation, and poor handling of the situation caused significant stress and inconvenience. Literally we have no place to stay. I would advise others to be cautious and ensure they receive a fully signed contract and clear confirmation before making any commitments.

Streets ahead are an immoral and corrupt company, who work with unethical landlords. I would strongly advise renters to avoid this company at all costs. Our experience from start to finish has been awful. We sent our move in monies 2 weeks before our move date, but were contacted the day before saying we hadn’t paid, after this was sorted we moved into an absolutely filthy property, within a week we began having issues with the boiler, and unsafe wiring in the kitchen, it took us having no heating or hot water for a month to have this fixed, during this we had to take days off to stay in for contractors who wouldn’t turn up. We discovered large amounts of black mould behind our entire kitchen units, along with a kitchen window that didn’t open, we asked multiple times to have this looked into and it never happened. Finally getting any of our deposit back has been a struggle, we had to go through the deposit protection agency even to get an email back from our property manager. They are taking money from our deposit despite us leaving the flat in better condition than when we took it on, but we simply don’t have the energy to deal with their company any more. At this point our tenancy ended over a month ago and we still haven’t received our money back.

Having dealt with Streets Ahead for over a year whilst renting a property that was managed by them, I cannot recommend that tenants and landlords avoid them enough. They are unprofessional, unresponsive and unhelpful. Having found the property through Streets Ahead and having a good experience, we couldn’t have known the trouble that would come from moving over to the property managing team. The property had not been cleaned in between tenants, which we raised and were ignored, we were not made aware of things like how to pay our water bill even after asking multiple times, there were things broken in the property that we were promised would be fixed but were never even looked at and the list goes on. When moving out, they tried to tell us that our notice period was much longer than it was, say that we were liable for cleaning fees (which is illegal and the property was left in a better state when we left to when we arrived) and when returning the key to the office, no one even confirmed that they had been received, even after chasing it up. The cherry on the cake was that it took 4 months for our deposit to be returned and only after we chased multiple times and had to eventually raise it with our deposit agency. We then agreed an amount to be returned through the deposit agency, to which a smaller amount was returned. Taking an unagreed amount of a deposit away is detrimental to people’s next steps. Unfortunately, we are not in a position that we can push this any further and it is clear that they are aware and preying on this. I can imagine we are not the first that they have taken advantage of and will not be the last. I can only highly advise tenants and landlords alike to avoid streets Ahead at all costs. Specifically the central Croydon/property management departments.

I contacted this estate agents for a rental and like most people in the UK I have debt and despite my gross being way above their standard for the property I was treated with utter disrespect I was spoken to like I was nothing and told that not only can I not view any of their properties without showing 6 months bank statement and that even with that I would not be able to rent with them also was told no other estate agent would rent to me This I found amusing as I am currently in a private rent and have been for many years I think this estate agents definitely need to work on their customers service. I will ensure I spread the word not to approach if you have debt which is currently 7.4 million since Jan 2024

Super frustrating bad experience with these guys, not collaborative at all, is 5 months we chase them and we are into the process of buying our house. Lack of communication, they say “ I will call you later for updates.” And then just disappear and even not replying to our calls. I do not recommend this agency at all.

First I expressed my wish online and after the company official got some information from me, he did not explain the refusal to give me the house. After I contacted several times they said they will not provide homes for adults. Contact only non-adults. Asking for house rent at Streets ahead is an unnecessary task. How can parents be brought in in a country where only students are admitted? The student visa is issued only after submitting the documents that you have enough money to stay and study in this country. However, they refuse to provide a house to stay. People coming on student visa and PSW are wasting their time asking these kind of companies for house rent. They will not even get another house as an alternative arrangement. Thank you.

Laziest agency I have seen EVER. From the letting agents to property management agents to the accout department, they are all slow to responses as soon as you moved out. It takes them forever to process a deposit refund. I moved out middle of July 2024 and as of today, the end of Auguest I still have not received my deposit refund back. One day they said the property manager who was responsible for my account left their company and they didn't know I moved out. Execuse me? How poorly their management have to be to let such a situation happened? Shouldn't their manager of the property management apartment forseen all the handover to been done smoothly when someone left the company and have all their existing accounts been taking care of? They needed the tenant to informed them they have moved out instead of them reaching out to tenant before the lease expired. The other day they said they hadn't booked the move out check clerk to do the inventry check so they couldn't do anything. So I wait another week until they booked the clerk. When the clerk is done and have the report. They said they needed to wait the landlord approval that the report. When the landlord agreed the report was good. They said they need to book a professional cleaning before they can release the deposit. Oh, Hello? Shouldn't they have told me a cleanning is needed to be booked the same moment they told me they needed to do an inventry check? Week after week after week. Everytime I have to call them to learn the progress they made as they never response to your emails. And everytime I called, they would give you another new execuse why they couldn't release the deposit. No need to say they could never provide a date, or a correct time frame when I can have my deposit to be released. Before you sign the teneacy agreement, they gave you 2-3 days to make the deposit. When your lease expires, they will take forever to give you your money back. That's not so fair, innit?
