If no stars could be given. I am absolutely in shock at the way I have been treated regarding a property & that the lettings team actually blaming the landlady. False hope & lies - landlords/landlady’s - do not use & people looking for property do not go through the estate agents. You will be mislead & lied too & never contacted. If the truth was told at the beginning I wouldn’t be leaving this. No communication. I chased & chased promised phone calls back & promised answers by certain dates only to find out the guy dealing with it wasn’t even working. Terrible customer service & when I emailed ‘automatic reply’ - ‘customer service is extremely important to them’ it most definitely isn’t. I also have a young baby (18 months old) it’s a good job. I didn’t complete anything at my end. Otherwise we would now be homeless. I am disgraced & appalled at how I have been treated & the landlady of the property is unhappy (I know) & blaming her for it. Terrible. I will never ever be using Abbott Fox & you shouldn’t either.NegativeResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism
My partner and I went to Abbotfox as we were moving to Norwich and were looking for a place in the city. They were leasing apartments on Rose Lane and we were interested, however they let us down on so many occasions. The first viewing, the agents were late and when we were finally allowed into the building they showed us a completely different apartment, claiming the one we would be leasing would be “exactly the same.” We said we would have to see the actual apartment and that’s when things started to get really sketchy. Again, they tried to show a different apartment and get us to sign the lease without ever actually seeing where we would be living. When we finally demanded to see the apartment, we could certainly see what they were hiding. It was in horrific condition and the bathroom was absolutely full of black mould. On top of this, the agent who sat down with us told us we would be charged £300 each for reference checks, even though Estate agency’s could no longer legally charge for this. When we said we knew that was no longer a legal fee the agent said “it’s a mandatory check and without paying you will not be considered for this apartment.” Fortunately for us we then went to a fantastic agency in Norwich who also confirmed it was not legal to charge such fees and we ended up with a MUCH better apartment and amazing agents. Do not use this company by any means. Edit: We are leaving a review now after having such a positive experience elsewhere and I wouldn’t want someone to feel like they had to settle for inadequate service. I won’t be dealing with you in future, hopefully this review helps others decide if they’re going to.
Totally useless rental agent. They put a tentant into my flat who didn't pay his rent, stole a fridge and bathroom sink and I had to go to court to get him out legally, with 6k of costs / loss of rent. It the turns out he was wanted by the crime squad for multiple crimes. No use them as an agent.NegativeProfessionalism
Abbot Fox are inconsistent and unreliable. They are happy to let out dirty or even uninhabitable accommodation. Instead of sorting it out like professionals they’re just out to make a quick buck off tenants. The below comment from AF is a spam comment they’ve put under anything criticising them for letting out a mouldy and worm-infested home to NHS workers during the pandemic. It doesn’t scare me. The Eastern Daily Press has reported on this matter recently. Abbot Fox could choose to make good on their mistakes, but until they do it’s important for members of the community to look out for one another and warn them away from untrustworthy businesses.NegativeProfessionalism
If youre looking to use AbbottFox, take a look at how they deal with negative reviews - trying to discourage people from leaving them by threatening action by "Google and the police". Perhaps rather than trying to silence their critics they should address the concerns raised? If people are leaving bad reviews about tenant safety, that strikes me as a problem they might want to address, rather than just attempting to cover their tracks. I have no doubt that AbbottFox will report this review along with the other negative ones, but if you do see this review, I'd recommend not letting through a company whose response to issues raised by tenants is to attempt to silence them and hope the problem goes away. Lettings agents in general aren't great but these guys are one to actively avoid.NegativeProfessionalism
Very very poor customer service. The worse experience me and my partner ever had. Very unprofessional workers and things went so slow. Always empty promises and you always have to call them for any updates. And the funniest thing was that when after many months finally we moved in to the property, agency people still used to come, unlock our doors from outside when we used to sleep in a morning and even come inside in the property to show other people our property, as they still thought it's free. And when we complained to the agency they again promised to do anything and compensate for person privacy damage but did nothing like always. I wish we'll never be in contact with them again. If I could I would make 0 stars.NegativeResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism, Value
Edit: Terrible service after they had closed the deal, got to the point where I had to get the council involved as they weren't dealing with the issues with the property. The landlady did not know anything about what was happening with the property until we contacted the council and copied her into the emails after which she did most of the work sorting things out. There are still problems that have been unresolved for 6months. Which they are asking us to organise the repairs which is their job to do. I would not recommend AbbottFox to anybody. Be very wary if you end up renting from them. Original post: Very efficient with a very quick turn around when we needed a property within a week. Thank you
