If you are considering renting through Abbott Fox I would strongly advise against it based on our recent experience with them. 7 months ago, we agreed to rent a brand new flat in Rose Lane. After signing the paperwork, we discovered that our landlord and the agent were father and son which created a conflict of interests and there was a constant lack of communication between them throughout our tenancy. When viewing the flat we were assured that blinds would be provided but this was later retracted with the agent stating, “The landlord is allowed to change his mind”. It quickly became apparent that there was a mould problem in the flat. Initially, the landlord tried to blame us but eventually acknowledged there was a faulty window then proceeded to do nothing about it. The building also had a problem with rats which no-one seemed concerned with addressing. The landlord was completely unreasonable at times and the flat was not enjoyable to live in so we moved out. The agent sent us an email thanking us for leaving the flat in an really good condition and informed us we would be getting our full deposit back. When this had still not been refunded after a month we began chasing them. Finally they paid, but deducted agency fees we had already paid in advance and we had to wrangle with them all over again. Overall we found Abbott Fox to be both incompetent and dishonest.

The worst agency ever. I'm waiting already 3 months for basic stuff like garage space or smoke detector repair. Contact with them is all great until you signed contract - after that they clearly dont care. It gets to the point when I will have sort it out by council and solicitors as abbot fox doesn't provide anything else then a pile of bs and promises.

My partner and I have been renting from Abbotfox since August 2016 and can count on one hand, the amount of times they have done things promised to us. Me and my partner are living in *luxury* apartments in the city centre and from October 2016 had mould in the flat. We were told by the estate agents that this has been caused by faulty window installation and that they would have someone out the next day to assess the situation. This did not happen. We have a furnished flat and upon moving in, the bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers were all faulty and of poor quality. We had our bed frame replaced 6 months later, yet the mattress that has accumulated mould from the damp has not been replaced, and we are still having to sleep on this due to their "furniture policy". We also have a four lettered swearword beginning with C and ending in unt scratched into our living room wall. They are very good at contacting you when you owe them rent money, or deposits, but if you need their help, they will ignore emails, and tell you they will call you back. There is a very big problem within their accounts department, we are continually sent letters stating we are £3000 in arrears, only to go through our bank account and see that all payments have been successful. Couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery in my opinion.

having called with a view to rent a property at the top end of the property rentals in this area I found the staff unhelpful and rude. They totally lacked the ability to sell the property to me nor were they that enthusiastic when I had indicated that I was interested in the property ...... If I were letting a property I would not use them as they turn customers off.... The property in question had been on the market for at least 6 months and had a rental of approx £3,000 pcm. Somewhere there is a landlord loosing money whilst this agency is treating customers with contempt... I only give one star because this system insists on at least one before the review can be posted.....
