A Wolf in Sheep's clothing. Initially we had a great experience with EweMove, but in the end they proved themselves to be just like every other hard-nosed estate agent: promised the world …

I have dealt with many agents as part of my recent property search and never have I ever come across any more unprofessional and poorly organised establishment. Upon confirming my interest, I had to remind, email and asked several times to the agent (Nadia) to send me confirmation on my viewing appointment. Upon arriving at my appointment, I was left waiting in the rain for 45 minutes. When I called the office to find out where Nadia was I was told her battery had died and they were unable to contact her. It later transpired that she was waiting inside the property? This is absurd! Why would you wait inside the property when your battery is dead and not make the effort to wait for a client outside the property. It seems like this particular agent wanted a break and had no intentions to do this viewing. I still question whether the agent was there in the first instance. When I tried to query this with the practice manager, Sian, made a the number of excuses on behalf of the agent. The reality was that it is poorly run and I feel sorry for anyone that has listed their property with this unprofessional agency. Never have I ever, cross a poorly run establishment. I wasted my annual leave and my time was ruined due to the poor management of this company. Sadly, I never got to view 22 Stewart Court. Please tread carefully if you ever wish to use the services of this pathetic excuse of an agency.

Reply from EweMove Leighton Buzzard: I presume this is really Ricky R rather than Paul L and this review has been made using a pseudonym. Having looked into this matter it is clear these statements are factually incorrect, misleading and do not represent what actually happened. You enquired about the property on the 17th Aug, Nadia called you that day, booked the viewing for the following day and confirmed it via email and text the same day. On the 18th, you called our office 5 minutes after the viewing was due to start saying Nadia was not there. We said she had left to attend the appointment and we would call to see where she was. We were unable to reach her and called you back within 5 minutes to explain that. We did not say her battery had died, we said we couldn't reach her. As it was raining, we suggested you stand in the Tesco Express opposite the development whilst we tried to contact Nadia. It transpired that there are two entrance lobbies to the building and because it was raining, Nadia was waiting inside one of the lobbies, she was not waiting inside the apartment itself and ‘taking a break’ She hadn't been to the development before (this was her first week with the firm) and she wasn't aware there were two entrances and unfortunately she was in the wrong lobby. As she thought you hadn't turned up and as her phone was not connecting, she returned to the office. The staff explained what had happened and where you were and she was asked to return immediately and her colleague Irfan called you to explain she was on her way back, at which point you said you weren't interested and were leaving! The office manager called you later in the day to apologise for the mistake, she explained again what had happened and she offered to re-arrange the appointment and attend herself, she certainly wasn't making excuses. I am sorry for what happened, it was a genuine human error from a member of the team who was new to the firm. These things happen from time to time but I don’t believe it warrants these comments.

Sales team were great getting me in a flat, however failed to disclose that the flat has a problem with the ventilation system. The flat was then listed for sales without informing me. I was also left without hot water after reporting the problem for about a week before the electrician were able to look at the problem. Just a disappointment, as the team seems friendly 😞

Reply from EweMove Leighton Buzzard: Matthew, we have to take issue with the comments you make as they are incorrect. The fact that there was a known issue with the ventilation in the block was discussed with you at the time of the viewing and our team member spent time with you turning on the kitchen and bathrom fans to see if the problem could be re-created and it couldn't be heard. We informed you that the landlord was thinking of selling and arranged access with you for sales valuations to be carried out. We tried on a number of occassions to reach you to inform you of the landlords decision to sell and eventually had to leave you a message informing you of this decision and asking you to contact the office. The electrical issue was reported by you on the Sunday 30th July, you were contacted about it when we re-opened on the morning of Monday 31st and and our contractor attended to resolve the problem on Tuesday 1st August. It did not take a week before anyone attended. If you would like to discuss any of these points in more detail, please contact one of the team who would be happy to clarify.

Can’t put their for sale boards outside the correct house

Reply from EweMove Leighton Buzzard: Dear Elizabeth, We are desperately sorry that our For Sale Board Contractor (Agency Express) placed our For Sale Board in front of the wrong house on Saturday afternoon. As soon as Gareth reported the issue and informed us the board had been erected at the wrong house, we immediately informed Agency Express to collect the board as soon as they could. I also sent a message to Gareth apologising for the error and informed him that the board would be collected as soon as Agency Express are back in the area. I understand that Gareth has already taken the board down so that it is ready for collection. Once again please accept my sincere apologies for the error. It was a honest mistake by our For Sale Board Contractor and we will investigate with them further. Kind Regards, Chris Naylor Director Ewemove Leighton Buzzard 01525 300 010

Very two faced about their lettings. We were often told one thing and then they delivered another. I expect estate agents to be a bit untrustworthy and putting their business first, that's how life works, but P&H seemed to go about it all in a particularly untrustworthy manner. I'm sure they'll figure out what I'm complaining about and reply with excuses, but it certainly won't paint the whole story.

We've had a very poor experience with this estate agent - we booked a viewing of a property with them however we were sent to the wrong address to disturb someone who had no idea we would be coming. After finally discovering the error, they could not get us in for the viewing of the correct property until another day, which meant we would have to make the fairly long journey to Watford again. They did not return our call despite promising to do so and it took a further 3 days to get any response from them over email. My advice is to go elsewhere - there are plenty of agents in Watford that provide a much better service!

Reply from EweMove Leighton Buzzard: Barbara, I am very sorry to hear that you have had this experience with us, this is very much the exception not the rule and we will certainly look into what has happened here to ensure that the team member involved learns from this and receives further training if appropriate. Many thanks

Rented through them for over 2 years, since we moved out a month ago it’s been impossible to get in touch with them, no calls back, no responses to my emails absolutely nothing when it comes to returning the deposit back. The landlord himself had to go to the branch to get them to transfer the money back to us but all they do is lie constantly saying they’ve done it. So many other better agencies out there… Samantha Hazlett was dealing with us… she was meant to arrange the key collection on our moving out date in the morning, comes to the day before the key collection date and we still haven’t heard from her or the company they work with (while we were trying to contact Sam ourselves all week but apparently we didn’t)… reached out to the landlord and told him no one has contacted us about the key collection so he had to chase them again, few hours later I received an email saying it’s been arranged and someone will contact me, however, the landlord was told they contacted me weeks ago about it and I know exactly what’s going on… I knew we were giving the key back but not when or what time or to who until 2 hours before the key collection. Comes to the day of key collection and only at 2pm I was contacted by the external company saying they are ready to collect the key (requested a morning slot weeks prior key collection). The external company confirmed that they only received this booking when I received an email at 5pm day before the key collection saying they will be in touch with me. So Samantha was lying to the landlord about it. Now has stopped responding to my emails, calls since it’s time to return my deposit.

Reply from EweMove Leighton Buzzard: Greta, we are obviously very disappointed to read your review and that you have chosen this medium to air your grievances with our check out process. Having looked into this matter, it is clear that the comments you make misrepresent the situation and are taken out of context with everything we have done to allow you to be released early from your lease. I have no intention of listing the issues we had in dealing with your check out, but if you wish to discuss things in more detail, please feel free to contact our offices and we would be pleased to discuss things in more detail with you.

Hello! Nice to meet you, we're Chris and Simon, your local personal agents. We're local Leighton Buzzard residents, we've worked together for years now, and have not always been Estate Agents either. We've both moved house lots too, and had awful experiences with lacklustre agents that just don't give you the time of day. We knew the people of Leighton Buzard deserved better, so we founded EweMove Leighton Buzzard. Now we take an active interest in making your home-moving journey amazing. Just ask someone who has used us, they'll tell you what it is like to have a personal agent!
