F.A.O tenants: They come and inspect the property every 3 months and as a tenant they do not send you any inspection reports. Even when you email twice, asking for inspection reports and notes to be sent to you as a tenant, they do not reply. How are you to know if a lettings agent is happy with how you’ve maintained the property if they do not communicate anything about it? This is causing us distress over our deposit as we don’t know how much of our hard-earned money we will get back. If you’re a tenant, please go elsewhere. Linda Matthews gave me my full deposit back when I vacated one of their properties and when the house was being sold they had me as a ‘sitting tenant.’ They also only inspected once or twice a year, not every 3 months! A landlord’s house is a tenant’s home - tenants pay an extortionate amount and have a right to live in peace without the constant disturbance! Quealy and Co (in my opinion) only care about where the money is coming from. As the landlord pays them, they do everything to benefit the landlord. Not forgetting that in order for the landlord to pay them, the tenant has to pay the landlord. We’ve always paid in full on time and been good tenants but they don’t seem to care about that. Wouldn’t recommend them to my worst enemy. Best to rent from elsewhere, if you want to feel at ease that you’ll be getting your deposit back and if you want to live a life without someone taking pictures of every room in your home, every 3 months.

As a first time buyer myself, my experience was not great with quealy & co. First we tried to purchase a house that granted may not have been quealy & co understanding at first was not even purchasable, potentially stamp duty evasion. They were evasive once this was discovered communication was horrendous and myself and my husband were having to constantly chase for answers. To this day we are still yet to have our question answered how this house was ever listed in the first place. If our solicitor wasn’t kind we would have lost thousands on solicitor fees due to their incompetence. Thank god we had an outstanding solicitor who gave us the best advice when trying to purchase this house. Will not be recommending.

Hi Emily We are very sorry to hear about your experience and it means a lot to us that you have reached out as we don't want you to be unhappy. We are investigating the issues as we can see it was a complicated transaction between a former owner and a mortagee in possession, for whom we were acting for in selling to you. We will message you in the next couple of days. Quealy & Co

We purchased via Quealy & Co and it was possibly the most stressful purchase to date - we were misinformed, and ‘supported’ (I use the term losely), by an agent who was entitled, opinionated and quite frankly, unhelpful. We were made to feel insignificant and it was simply unacceptable - key information they should have been aware of as agents, caused delays which were stressful and we we were continually made to feel as though we were the issue. Communication was poor - often having to chase for responses, and the agent dealing with our purchase would misinterpret communication, I’m not even sure how this is possible as I ensured we communicated in writing in the end, and yet it was still miscommunicated. Given our experience, I wouldn’t recommend Quealy & Co and if we ever look to move in the future, I would be cautious considering any properties on their books. The last few weeks have been so stressful, I’ve suffered migraines and I know they say moving house is one of the most stressful events in life - well with this estate agent, that is a certainty. #stress

Would give 0 stars if I could, wouldn’t recommend renting with Quealy and Co. Inspections every 3 months photos taken of your property, never feels like home. if I wasn’t still tied to a tenancy I would be moving out already. If you are renting, remember that they work for the landlord and not you, don’t trust them.

Hi Kathy, we have an obligation to both you as the tenant and to the landlord make sure that the fabric of a building is not deteriorating and I do not know how we can do that without coming to visit. It is recognised in the rental market that agents should visit properties periodically and I am absolutely confident that if we did not we would be lambasted by both tenants and landlords for not doing so. It appears it might be some time since you rented through us as our inspections are just three times a year now. We do wish the inspections to be as minimally intrusive as possible but we do have to have some means of recording what we have found. I would be very pleased to hear from you personally as feedback only enables us to be aware of how our customers feel about the service we provide.

Unreliable. They charge you a fee for renting then any problems you have in the property is not dealt with.

Hi Gabriel, i am sorry you to hear about your experience. However, the last record we can find of you dealing with us was in 2015 and we have not charged any fees to tenants since 2019. Much has changed in our business since then and i would certainly hope you would have a very different experience if you rented from us now.

Am amazed at the lack of professionalism within the lettings agency. Agents making unfounded and rude comments about a property to the landlord, I would not recommend or trust using Quealy’s to look after your property.

Hi Brittany, I would be very pleased to engage with you about your experience with us and my direct contact is dee@quelay.co.uk. However, I cannot find any record of your name in our database and we would have your details if we have spoken to you about letting a property. Can you please let me know the circumstances of your experience with us.

We didn’t have the best experience renting off quealy and co. We were there for around 20months and if we had a problem the first response was can you fix it yourself or certain things they just wasn’t interested in. But the worst experience was when we were ending the tenancy they tried to deduct money from our deposit for stupid little things for example there was a few weeds growing in the back garden which you couldn’t see in any pictures. They also tried to deduct £60 for oven cleaning but on further inspection of the reason why it was due to a try left in the oven which had grease backed on by the previous tenant. A new try is about £20 so trying to charge £60 is ridiculous. We ended up settling for £30 due to the fact they had already carried out the cleaning even before the issue was settled and it just dragged on for no reason. Overall I don’t think they have any motivation to help tenants or try to sort issues that people have regarding getting deposits back.

TERRIBLE!! Please avoid. Thankfully only did 6 months. We had a water leak from upstairs and had to cut power all weekend due to no emergency contact number from quealy and had to wait for a Email Monday for them to only say to basically ask upstairs if they have any problems after a day of back and forth emails which took until the Tuesday for someone to come out and look at the problem. Was also told from neighbours that the previous TWO tenants only did 6 months there too because of bad mould problems. There was a awful smell in all of the kitchen cupboards and later found out it was mould as it ruined everything in there I.e food packets pots and pans. Again after a day of emails I requested the landlord to come and inspect, All he told me was that he couldn’t smell anything and that the previous tenants had a cat and it might be the smell from that??? The week we was moving there was scaffolding out side our only entrance/exit and we were never informed about this and quealy did not know a thing about it.. dirt concrete and broken glass we had to step around for a week. They are all for you when your interested in moving in but when your there they couldn’t care less about you. All the bad reviews I’ve seen seems like everyone gets the same answer, Trust me we contacted them about all the problems and didn’t get any help!!

Unfortunately it was not a good experience to rent from Quealys. In the past, I bought my first flat from them and that was relatively stress free however renting is a different story. They inspect every 3 months, having never rented before I was unsure if that was standard but on speaking to other tenants that is a lot. Maintenance-wise they sent the same plumbers round to the unreliable boiler several times to bodge the job. There was a leak once which went downstairs, it was declared unsafe another time and there was difficulty when wanting hot water and heating at the same time. Twice my 2 young children and I were left without hot water and heating during the winter (though they did bring round an oil heater). This all happened in the space of 20 months! But my biggest grievance is the process of trying to get my deposit back which has gone on almost a month. I was a very careful tenant, not even putting a nail a wall to hang a picture on. However on check out I have had to let them keep parts of my deposit for filling on the wall (definitely not me) money towards carpet cleaning when I know they are replacing them all and I was advised by their cleaner not to have them cleaned as they needed replacing and because some weeds were growing inbetween some decrepit paving slabs in the back garden. Along with smaller amounts for the fridge/freezer etc which I just let go. I tried to fight some of it & some money was discounted but in the end I have had to accept over a hundred pounds of deductions as the process was dragging on for weeks and became exhausting. They do not treat their tenants the same as those buying houses from them and in these times particularly, I find that very disappointing. I would never use them again for renting or buying/selling.
