NEVER I repeat NEVER rent with that agency! The amount of times I was left without electricity, gas, etc. and no one seemed to really help were more than acceptable. I was once told by a "Property Manager" that I shouldn't complain about not having hot water but rather "make use of my kettle". I was left without heating for 3+ weeks because another "Property Manager" didn't call the contractors to come and look at the boiler. Those same contractors had accused me of lying that the boiler wasn't working. It took Winkworth 3 full weeks to finally come to theirs sense and call an actual boiler specialist. When he came he told me that my boiler needed to be fixed ASAP. It took them few calls from the Reading borough to take action for the matter. The way I was treated was absolutely unprofessional and unacceptable. Until the last day of my stay in my studio the main drain had been blocked and every time I used the washing machine it would flood the entire kitchen. Again as usual no one in the agency took the matter seriously enough to mark it as urgent and get it over with. It took them 4+ weeks of calls from me every day to finally come and fix it. Unlucky for me even after the second visit of their top tier contractors the drain was still clogged. These are just few of the horrible things that I have experienced while renting with that agency. I highly advice you do not rent with them. This is my personal experience of course but I highly doubt they will be helpful if you ever have problems and they manage the property themselves.NegativeProfessionalism

The worst experience we ever had with an agency. We were so unsatisfied with the level of service that we decided to move out from the property we rented, to find another one managed by any other agency. Our emails remained unanswered, and maintenance issues were not actioned. The EPC rating was misstated in the ad, we found this out when we received the contract to sign, so make sure you request a copy of this document even before the viewing. We did not receive 2 copies of the keys to the main entrance as stated in the check-in report. We noted this immediately, still it took 2 weeks to receive the missing key. This involved us writing several emails, as they simply replied that we must have the keys with us, we should check again. On the second week we decided to go into their office to raise the issue in person. This was when they finally gave us the second key as apparently they had two copies with them...This pretty much describes every other situation we got into when we tried to rely on their support. Late and not helpful responses, actions only taken when we chased them. This is obviously even more inconvenient when it comes to a problem with the heating or hot water. When leaving, they wanted to charge for items which were mentioned/photographed already in the check-in report. So make sure you have every little scratch noted in the check-in, even if this is just 1 inch chipped from the cupboard.

Dreadful and unprofessional service. After letting an apartment from them for 18 months at £2,100 per month, upon checkout we were presented with a £500 deposit deduction for dreamt up petty charges, most of which were agreed in writing when we moved in. Despite trying to resolve it directly with them, we had to refer it to the Deposit Protection Scheme who found in our favour such that £415 of it was unjust and we finally got the balance of our deposit back almost 3 months after vacating the property. After they agreed to remove stained mattresses and damaged furniture before we agreed to the lease, then when we moved in, they refused. Also several faulty equipment items were either never repaired or took months to repair. Conclusion: Be VERY, VERY wary of letting from this Agent. Take photo's of every wall, floor, ceiling and furniture at the start and end of your tennancy. Document everything in writing, see through the smiles and be prepared for delays in receiving your deposit back.

Worst service I ever got - asked to fix the door they send someone to check it and then they promised to be fixed and ignored it forever - same happened for the cooker hood and then the complained about the humidity in the kitchen - they will run a very non detailed checkin inventory and then a microscopic detailed checkout - you will be lucky if you get half of your deposit

I have experienced many of the estate agents in Reading, I was very disappointed when I dealt with Winkworth office. During the viewing I have been ignored and the guy was talking to the tenant for long time which is resulting I have to waited him outside the apartment. I went to Winkwarth offices and I tried to make my offer and I have been informed that someone make the offer?!!!! I was the first one viewing the apartment.

If only I could leave 0! Where to begin...from not being able to get repairs done, being told that they don't manage our property, although we don't have any contact with the landlord??? Continuous lie after lie from the property management team, lack of standard communication with regards to unresolved issues, lack of any courtesy to tenants, poor customer service skills from all but one member of staff, having the phone put down on me by one of the property management team when I called to check on the progress of an important repair to the building, quite frankly her attitude was absolutely appalling! And this is just a short list of ongoing problems, I could go on, but I don't believe it would be worth digging deeper as they clearly care about nothing but getting their money from us every month! I live in a block of 16 flats and I can assure you I am not the only tenant experiencing such a disgustingly poor level of customer service, and I certainly am not the only one attempting to contact and resolve current problems. I have given up on constantly chasing issues which need to be sorted but have been ongoing for months! Every time I speak to someone I am left feeling that I am the one with the problem and that I am in the wrong! It is just not acceptable to make your customers feel like this, and I can't even fully explain how extremely frustrating it is dealing with them! It is a real shame that things are dealt with so poorly and that no one seems to have any customer service skills and clearly don't know how to decently treat people! Very disappointing to say the least, shame on you Winkworth for conducting yourselves so poorly, you have caused alot of tenants unnecessary distress! I shouldn't have to resort to this to try and get matters resolved
