Agents are absolutely not worth their crazy prices. Have been a tennant with Theydons for several years and it has always been one disaster after another. On the day we moved in we arrived at the office at our previously agreed time of 9am only to be told we could not get our keys until 4pm. That's the kind of service £600 worth of agents fees buys you with these guys. On leaving the property we were sent several letters trying to dissuade us from appealing any deposit deductions. These letters told us we would be subject to fines if we did appeal (fines that were not in our contract) I feel they have attempted to bully us and have made us pay for the experience.
Bunch of unprofessional runners who should not be in this business. Not helpful, not respectful without manners. NEVER EVER HANGUP ON PEOPLE - MR SIMON - read your statement on your website under professionalism. Very disappointing experience.
No communication between themselves and with the landlords. They are not returning the calls and taking deposits without intend to give you property. Not polite staff, actualy they are rude. Not recommend.
If you're a landlord, then you'll love Theydons. Not so much if you're a tenant. Frequent mould, changed move in dates last minute, 5 months to fix a fence, 2 years of damp walls caused by incompetent attempts to fix, charging £38 pounds for a shower curtain and 170 for end of tenancy cleaning, not to mention £600 lettings fees. If you decide to let from Theydons, be prepared to pack the Vaseline on vacation of the flat. You'll be walking like John Wayne. AVOID!
Spent a year dealing with problems with the property which admittedly 50% were dealt with efficiently. Like the roaches we moved in to find. But I MUST stress to anyone. READ THE SMALL PRINT. They will sting you on checking out fees like cleaning and they don't watch their own inventory videos and will try and charge for things that previous tenants caused. Would not recommend unless the property is really worth it!
Rated 10,283 out of 11,830 estate agents in the UK and for a good reason. the letting management staff that i had the misfortune to deal with are a nightmare, every time I called Theresa Bradley gave me a different story, contradicting what the landlord had said & when i pointed out that their inaction and ineptitude was putting my family, including my 2y old, safety at risk the director, Andrew, said he didn't care. The last statement sums up this company.
A very unhelpful agency,we gave them a holding fee on a house which they turned around a few weeks before we moved in and said we could no longer have it,then they took over a week to give back our holding fee meaning we lost out on another house. Didn't really do much to help with the situation, never made the effort to phone us we constantly had to be on the phone to them.
For two years they completed minimal maintenance work and was then only a cover job rather than fixing the actual problem. At the end of the tenancy had a rotten broken wall in the bathroom that was left unfixed for around a month. Would hound you with calls when they need to see or inspect the property but would be slow at responding to your questions or requests. Finally when the tenancy had ended anthony turned up 30mins late to the time sent on the letter, failed to apologise for his lateness, whilst we had all taken time off work to comply with their demands of all tenants to be present. He then continued for 40mins to watch a ridiculous dvd taken prior to the handover of the keys and inspect every area of the house. At one stage there was too many leaves compared to the video outside that at once, one of us had to sweep and completely clear the area. His attempt at sheer intimidation and chauvinistic attitude is not how to treat tenants who never had any issue with rent and had been told by the few only respectable members of staff at Theydons how accommodating and pleasant are relationship was. Until handover Theydons where like many estate agents who landlord is difficult to get hold off, merely a third party in the process, however it is clear from their choice of staff when money is involved that do not give any shit who you are but a pound sign to abuse. Do not give them the satisfaction of a new customer.
I used theydons once as I had found their details on rightmove. They seemed to be a fairly reputable company. Throughout my dealings with them it became clear they were hungry for their commission and would go to any lengths to guarantee their commission was in the bank. They aren't afraid to lie and take advantage of vulnerable people, and their lack of ethics and customer care is absolutely ludacris. All estate agents should have basic training as property transactions are the biggest expenses we will make and it is essential to have a duty of care to all parties involved. If I could turn back time I wuld never have contacted Theydons as they are unprofessional and it would have saved me enormous amounts of stress.
Last year i had 3 valuations done with 3 agents and had to choose one, as all agents want to be sole agents only otherwise you have to pay a higher agents fee, Not had much luck so i decided to ask Theydons again today , to be honest i felt they only want quick sales for there commission, and want ALL Victorian houses Modenised, just as i thought today i was informed to redurbish my house to suit buyers otherwise he can only sell at a low price? i told him whatever i do to my property any buyer will make changes to suit them, he said unless i have upstairs bathroom, new kitchen moden right through listen to the rest PLUS loft conversion, it wont sell, his final words were he remembers my place and its not a nice house? well i have a new roof new boiler all newly rewired and decor to my taste, so i would avoid Theydons..
