Although most of the staff were really lovely and helpful at Theydons, the experience was ruined by Andy, the manager. A really unpleasant man who didn't respect us at all. He pulled the classic dodgy letting agent trick of taking money from us for not having cleaned the place properly, although we left the flat much cleaner than the state it was in when we moved there. When he was at our flat he would only speak to me, and referred to my flatmate (we rented the place together for the whole period) as "your friend", which felt extremely disrespectful, we can only guess it was because she looked younger. We correctly predicted precisely what he would try to get away with at the end of our tenancy. The inventory was done long before we moved in and didn't address any of the areas that he claimed were problem areas when we were moving out, which knowing my rights now, I would never have accepted again. Leytonstone is a nice area to live in, but I would avoid Theydons as long as that man works there.
After they damaged our house and refused to pay I spent a gruelling 7 weeks dealing them. From an incompetent to her awful weasel boss; I had no luck with any of them. I had to pay for it in the end. In hindsight I wish I'd done so in the beginning and avoided all contact with such odious people. Steer well clear!
Useless for renting! Expensive fees...rubbish at maintanance....no respect for tenants and they lie to you. Stipulate minor things to maximise there chance of taking deposit after contract ends. Greedy uncaring letting Agents.
We arrived home to find a Theydons board in our front garden, despite never having had any dealings with them. Apparently the sign was to advertise a school fete (although four fifths of the sign was the Theydons logo). Over the course of a week we requested 4 times to have the sign removed, but this was never done and we were given multiple excuses.

Bunch of unprofessional runners who should not be in this business. Not helpful, not respectful without manners. NEVER EVER HANGUP ON PEOPLE - MR SIMON - read your statement on your website under professionalism. Very disappointing experience.
No communication between themselves and with the landlords. They are not returning the calls and taking deposits without intend to give you property. Not polite staff, actualy they are rude. Not recommend.
If you're a landlord, then you'll love Theydons. Not so much if you're a tenant. Frequent mould, changed move in dates last minute, 5 months to fix a fence, 2 years of damp walls caused by incompetent attempts to fix, charging £38 pounds for a shower curtain and 170 for end of tenancy cleaning, not to mention £600 lettings fees. If you decide to let from Theydons, be prepared to pack the Vaseline on vacation of the flat. You'll be walking like John Wayne. AVOID!
Spent a year dealing with problems with the property which admittedly 50% were dealt with efficiently. Like the roaches we moved in to find. But I MUST stress to anyone. READ THE SMALL PRINT. They will sting you on checking out fees like cleaning and they don't watch their own inventory videos and will try and charge for things that previous tenants caused. Would not recommend unless the property is really worth it!
Rated 10,283 out of 11,830 estate agents in the UK and for a good reason. the letting management staff that i had the misfortune to deal with are a nightmare, every time I called Theresa Bradley gave me a different story, contradicting what the landlord had said & when i pointed out that their inaction and ineptitude was putting my family, including my 2y old, safety at risk the director, Andrew, said he didn't care. The last statement sums up this company.
