I actually know a few people who rent/have rented through Belvoir Grantham and am yet to hear a positive comment about them. From my personal experience, I have had a number of issues with them through my time renting my property through them. I will not dwell on old issues and will only comment on my most recent ones. My most recent issue with Belvoir has been their determination to contact me only via post no matter how soon the subject matter. This has actually even lead to me receiving notification of my keys being given to contractors to enter my property after the event had taken place. This is, of course, very disconcerting for me. I do not feel like I have any control over who enters my property and when. People could just turn up any time, whether I'm expecting them or not. I have spoken to Belvoir about this a couple of times to ask why they don't call me or email me when the event is soon soon. However, I am yet to have a satisfactory response on this. They do not seem to feel it is an issue and just make comments such as that they will 'endeavour to remember the phone call first'. Regarding regular property checks, I also seem to have regular issues here. In March, the representative from Belvoir turned up at my door to do the checks and was surprised that I was not expecting him - my notification letter had stated April. Luckily I was in the property at the time so this was not too big of an issue (however would not usually be the case). For my check in September, I received no notification in advance. Therefore, one day, I came home to a business card stating that he had been unable to enter the property as I was not in and that the keys were out with a contractor (which I was also not aware of - see above). I rearranged the property check and it went ahead ok. Then, I received a letter a couple of weeks later saying that a property check would be taking place the following morning 10am - not a lot of notice! By the time I received the letter, the office was closed so I had to call the following morning to ask what was going on. I was told that I was correct; the check had indeed already taken place and that they had actually already cancelled the appointment. When I asked why I had not been informed of the cancellation, I was told "we sent a letter about it"! I never did receive that letter... I would never choose to use Belvoir again and I would not recommend them.
I don't even know where to begin with the problems I have had with these letting agents. From providing contractors the wrong keys to gain entry to my property, to giving my contact details to contractors wanting to do work in other properties, I cannot express enough to not rent through these letting agents, unless you have no other choice. One recent example of recent problems have been the attempts at getting a new blind fitted - the blind has been with them since July after being dropped off there by the landlord (so over 3 months now!!), after two months they finally arranged a contractor to fit them (after being requested to do so two months previously by the landlord), only to provide the contractor with the wrong keys, so that he could not get into the property. This is not the first time that the wrong keys have been given out!! Another time I received a letter to let me know that the landlord wanted to visit the property on a date, and if this was not convenient, to let them know and this could be rearranged. When I called to rearrange the date as it was not convenient (I have a cat, so did not want people entering my home without somebody present), I was told that they would not change it. I pointed out the content of the letter and I was told that they would issue a new letter to say that the appointment could not be rearranged!!!! One of the worst examples I encountered was when I first moved - at no point was I informed that the water bill was included with my rent (this was not included in my contract) and it took me 6 months to gain confirmation that it was I fact included in the rent, and was not to be paid separately - I cannot believe that no member of the team knew this!!!! There are many other issues that have come up during my time as a tenant of belvoir lettings, and from speaking to others, I know that I am not the only one - avoid if you can!!
As a former estate agent, I know how you work, what you do and how long it all takes. The lettings team in this branch are by far the worst I have come across. The fact you guys get commission isn't a secret, so you would think that you would really want to push your targets to bring home that commission... not here. As an award winning estate agent, I expected more, obviously this branch in an anomaly. Evidentally we weren't told about All Agents by the ladies in branch, probably due to the poor customer service we received, as I know you wouldn't want a bad review.. so, sorry guys! I think it should be known though how unwelcoming and how little trouble your staff go to, to do their jobs... I don't even know the girls names whom we dealt with, so yeah, built a really good customer relationship! Well done guys.
well where to start? our main issue with them was wanting to deliberately gain access to the property whilst we were at work and upon us stating that we wished to be present they went out there way to be rude and state the contract that they can do what they like if they give 24 hours notice. It took months for them to respond to issues in the house such as a leaky ceiling which we had to tolerate for 4 months, faulty lights etc and were always rude if they left answer phone messages. One of the admin assistants even dared to say that we should always have our phone on so they contact us even if we are at work!! We have always paid our rent on time, reported any issues immediately and kept the property in excellent condition so feel truly let down. Advice to anyone out there i really wouldnt get a house with them!!
I had rented with belvoir lettings for 19 months then due to government cutbacks I was made redundant and upon informing belvoir they became increasingly rude and offensive - which then resulted in an eviction order, upon finding a new place I needed two extra days in the property upon informing belvoir I was shocked. I had fallen behind with the rent by approx 500 pounds and had made a repayment schedule which was agreed. The 'manager' informed me she would make sure my partner and I with three young children would be homeless!!!!!! That we didn't deserve a roof over our heads and she would get a locksmith to change the locks - I informed her that it was my legal right to stay as told by the council and CAB. I have never been insulted so much in my entire life. This company should be disbanded and prosecuted for unfair evil practices - avoid like the plague.
