I would not recommend renting from this agency. I had mould in the flat that i was renting from Northwood. The mould was affecting my physical health so I notified the agency and they did nothing about it. Really irresponsible given that they are under legal obligation to treat the mould in the properties they rent.

Very bad service, I moved into a flat with Northwood recently, the flat has a prepayment electricity meter but I was not given a key to use for the top up or any details about how to do that, we were told the tenant shop would contact us and that we didn’t have to do anything regarding utility or council tax, the tenant shop was absolutely useless and stalled us for a week, by that time the electricity meter ran out and I had to find out what company I was this, after contacting them turns out I had to travel an hour by bus to get a key in order to be able to top up my meter. I was also disppointed with the cleaning of the apartment as it was clearly hand cleaned and had dusty surfaces all over. Connecting my broadband was another issue as the apartment had no outlet but just a wire sticking out of the wall, did I get any help from Northwood regarding my utilities, council bill or broadband? Of course not, the only thing this agent did was set up my rent payment, deposit and hand me over the keys. Even when I had plumbing issues in the kitchen and bathroom they took forever to respond and I still haven’t gotten anything repaired. Extremely disappointing service, and having just moved from a flat with Murray & Currie I can FEEL the downgrade.

More than one month ask them to solve a problem with radiator. Only get responses that landlord is informed but nothing done yet. The same situation with sockets which was removed and new one weren’t set up. On promises and zero work.

Horrendous, do not care about the tenants at all. Left without hot water whilst pregnant. Only care about their greedy landlords.

Bad customer service and incompetent - their rental properties are overpriced (obviously). I was paying £750 a month (now being let for £870) to stay at 97 South Gyle Gardens in Edinburgh. The building was more like a drafty caravan and it has a really bad damp problem. It also has rats which chew the waste pipe of the toilet which floods your bathroom creating more smell and damp.. The damp smell ruins all your clothes and belongings as it is near impossible to get rid. The staff are 'mostly' very arrogant useless pepole. Having to deal with the incompetent estate agents and staying in that property was genuinely the worst experience of my life. Please advise void at all costs.

All good reviews from landlords. They are terrible to tenants. When we left they just took big chunk of deposit for repairs and cleaning. We had hired professional cleaners but they said it hasn't been deep cleaned! A week after we moved in we found a dead mouse under dishwasher and a squirrel in the attic. We had to look everywhere as there was a terrible smell. I suppose deep cleaning is only for when you are moving out. They charged us for garden cleaning and neighbours swear nobody has come to touch the garden, they made fake invoices and said grasses were long. I had mowed the lawn before we left but grass grows in the summer. I think they expected us to come every week after move out to mow. The check out lady sent pictures of tiles outdoor that were more than 2 decades old and asked us to pay for repairs as they had cracks in them! During our stay, repairs would take months. Mold was everywhere in the house. When we moved out they just painted over mold and gave it to someone else. Zero care for people living in the house. Absolutely terrible people they do everything for more profit. They made our move a nightmare.

I don't recommend at all this agency. We've paid before leaving our apartment a professional team to clean it and even though they took us an incredible amount of money to do a "proper cleaning". They took advantage of us because we were foreigners and young. We really needed our deposit at the time and we didn't get it. The house was cleaner when we left than when we entered. I even wrote a comment at a time about this and they kind of "gently ask" to retire the comment from here before giving us a part of our money. We were extremely shocked. Also, we didn't even chose it. Our tenant changed agency when we were living there. Really horrible experience.

This agency is unprofessional, disorganised, and dishonest. My partner and I had to leave our previous hone right in the middle of lockdown. Flats were scarce and when we found what we thought would be a nice place to live at a nice price, we moved in For a general review- this agency is extremely strict and regular with inspections but incredibly lax and passé with maintenance. They seem to care about bad reviews as I once had an agent call me within 6 minutes of me posting a negative comment about them in a private Facebook group after they had been ignoring my emails for about a week. You might notice that the overwhelming amount of 5* reviews are from landlords and property owners, which makes sense as Northwood’s number one priority is squeezing every last dime out of tenants while providing 0 service. Unprofessional- This agency has been incredibly condescending to me on several different occasions. They have laughed in my face when I asked where my TWO sets of keys that they lost were. They have responded to emails I sent with “oh alyssa” and implied that I don’t know how to read an attachment when they in fact….didn’t attach it. Disorganised- Northwood letting Edinburgh attempted to schedule flat inspections within weeks of previous flat inspections on numerous occasions. They lost two sets of our keys and refused to take seriously the associated security risk. It took them SIX MONTHS to initiate repairs on our roof that was leaking water and causing mould in the middle of winter. This was six months after we were able to convince them there was a problem and we couldn’t just dehumidify it away. Dishonest- Northwood lied to us about the state of the flat when we moved in. As we moved into the flat in the middle of lockdown we did not have the opportunity to view the flat before we moved in. We asked point blank if there was anything wrong with the flat that we would need to know, specifically in regards to mould and damp, and we were assured that there was not. We got in contact with the previous tenant who confirmed that our roof problem was ongoing and existed during his time in the flat. They also shamed him and his family for not maintaining the flat properly instead of fixing the leaking roof. In addition to this- we were assured as per their check out protocol that if we used one of their recommended cleaners there would be no deduction from our deposit for cleaning. This did not stop them from trying to claim cleaning expenses against us. They also tried to claim money back for bedding left in the flat that was in the flat when we moved in. Wouldn’t recommend.
