Too many changes in staff, seem to deal with someone different everytime I call,
We sadly had a really negative experience. We found a flat we loved and agreed a move in date in writing. Two weeks before we were due to move in, the agent told us that the flat was still under tenancy for 18 days after the move in date that we had agreed. This was because the current Tenant was buying a house and it was delayed. We were reassured that we could still move in a little later than planned, but the date got pushed back and back further. With the landlord telling us we should never have been told by the agent we could have moved in on that date for certain and should have been flexible (subject to contract). Finally a week before moving, we had to find somewhere else last minute as the only thing suggested by the agent was we stay in an air b&b for nearly three weeks at our own expense costing nearly £1800. We were left out of pocket and very disappointed with our experience. The communication between the landlord and agent was poor, with ourselves having to speak with the landlord directly to try and find a resolution. This situation would have been entirely prevented if the flat was only put up for rent after the tenancy ends, not 3 weeks earlier in the hope they have moved
Crazily slow at fixing anything in the house
I had very bad experiences with this agency as a tenant. Would never recommend them. Some staffs are really rude and unprofessional too.
Do not be deceived by the overall appearance of Property Centre or by the positive reviews you may come across. Based on my experience, I would advise anyone dealing with this agency to proceed with extreme caution. Make sure that all promises, agreements, and important discussions are confirmed in writing. Do not rely solely on verbal assurances, as having a written record can save a lot of trouble later. In my experience, the agency's priorities appeared to be heavily aligned with the landlords' interests, leaving tenants with limited support when issues arose. I also felt that they were quick to collect payments while showing far less commitment when it came to resolving tenant concerns. There were also situations involving contractors that left me feeling uncomfortable and raised questions in my mind about how certain matters were being handled. While I cannot comment on the reasons behind these situations, they contributed to my overall lack of confidence in the agency's professionalism and transparency. A couple of friends had warned me about this agency beforehand, but I chose not to pay much attention to their advice. Looking back, I wish I had taken those warnings more seriously. I would strongly recommend doing thorough research, asking questions, and obtaining everything in writing before deciding to deal with The Property Centre.
I advice you to GO ELSEWHERE if you wish to deal with a respectful estate agent!
I contacted this agency as a high-earning professional (over £30k p.a.) with an impeccable 6.5-year local tenancy record. Like many others, they demanded sensitive financial and private data just to book a preliminary viewing. …
Truly awful company to do business with. Used them to try and sell our vacant house when we had moved a long way away. When viewings started being cancelled on the booking app we called for an explanation. Can you believe they had lost the house keys! They never called to tell us this, and dare they deny this as phone records proved it. When, where, how long for? They had no answer. They appear to have no key security system in the office. They just asked if we could get some more cut! We requested payment to cover replacement locks I had fitted by a neighbour at cost but all they offered was to get a couple of new keys cut. Not until we had exhausted their complaints system with the next stage going to the Ombudsman, they payed up, and quote " we dont want to waste any more time on the issue" Complaint still lodged with the ombudsman which I cant go into until investigated. Be warned, you sign up with them, you are locked in for 20 weeks unlike other agents where you are free to leave at any time. 20 weeks is a long time to have to stay with a shambles of an outfit. They talk the talk but wow, they are so poor. Total disregard for the the security of our property, losing keys and not changing locks invalidates most insurances. Went to another agent in Thirsk, world's apart in service.Truly awful, they are extremely obnoxious when you make a complaint, especially Andy in Thirsk and the owner Chris. As soon as theres a problem., they show their true colours. Avoid, theres so much better to choose from in Thirsk.
Do not rent from this company. Awful experience, hard to get hold of and don't fix any issues in reasonable time. Rented for 3 years and they tried to get £500 of our deposit after leaving the place professionally cleaned with receipts. Disputed through TDC and got most of it back - don't put up with these people.
This is the second google review I have left in my life. I was totally shocked by the treatment I received today by this estate agent. To find the property for the viewing appointment, I first typed the address given on the estate agent's website (Benbrook Court, Plymouth Road, Totnes) into google maps, but it gave no results. Ok, shouldn't be a problem I thought, I'll just use the map they provide on their page. So I got to the exact location they gave, but there was no house by that name. I walked up and down, but no luck. So I phoned the agent, still a couple of minutes early. They were nice enough, and suggested I use street view. I did, from their page, and that showed the house on the opposite side of the street that I was on, but in exactly the place I was at least. However this was not the right address either! Finally they were able to get the agent on site to phone me after I request that he do so or just come out onto the street. He was fairly rude, told me to google something that I could not hear him say, so I asked him to message me it instead. He hung up abruptly. I waited for a minute but with no text, I called him back. He told me he had messaged me and when I said I received no text, he asked me if I had any phone reception - a rather odd question to ask someone with whom you are on the phone! In the end I just walked to the end of the road, still on the phone, and actually found him, 130 yards away from the given location on the website, and up a little side road. (The actual property was even further away). He was extremely unwelcoming and said something about being in a hurry. So I politely said that I was in the right place according to their website, early, did my best, and that I hope he understands it was not my fault I was late. He responded to this with anger, saying I should have prepared beforehand. WOW!!! I was so shocked! I asked him, "Are you really blaming me for being late, when I was early, at the exact place your website gave on the map and street view..." Then he insisted yes it was my fault, I should have googled it. Well, I HAD put it into google maps, there were no results! But he didn't even believe that (not that that should even be relevant since his website gave the wrong map location!), and said angrily something like "Do you want us to let this property to you or not?" (Which seems to me like saying 'Let me abuse you otherwise I won't even show you the property'). I have never received such appalling customer service. It is so very easy to just say "I am so sorry that we provided the wrong location" or something like that. Or even if you really don't want to admit any fault, just "Nice to meet you, glad you finally found me" or whatever. Well, it turns out that this man was actually the boss, Daniel. He handed me off to Mike, who actually showed me around. Mike was fantastic - warm and professional. The polar opposite of Daniel. It saddens me to even write this review but, I guess that's what reviews are for - sharing experiences of a company's service. And since it's his own company, I doubt my report to the company office will go anywhere. I never could have imagined such bad service as this. Update: I have just now seen the reply given below by this company, which includes: "During your recent viewing, our staff member ended the appointment due to inappropriate language." That is an outright lie. The staff member, Mike, was great. I was shown the whole property (which was unsuitable for me - in particular there was no cooker/oven, which he said was 'normal'!). The boss, Daniel, was still hanging around outside by the end of my viewing. So this nonsense about my appointment being ended is a total fiction. Quite sad that the boss would treat a customer so badly and then lie about it to try to look like he wasn't in the wrong, on the internet, though I guess that fits his pattern of behaviour in blaming me for being late after I was in fact early but his own listing gave the wrong location.
