Don't go anywhere near this company! Never experienced such awful customer service, to the point where they would forget to attend to things; such as damp leaks in the roof, 3 foot of rubbish in the landing, all the lights in the living room having burned out and much more! All of these things (if seen to at all) took them at least 3-6 months to attend to. Worst of all is their outgoing inventory. They're trying to charge me £135 for a small black mark on a wall, dusty doors and a slightly unclean oven. It's now been 2 months since I moved out and I still haven't received any of my deposit back. I cannot stress how much you should stay away from this lot and I'm certainly not the first to do so! Disgraceful.
Terrible first impressions with this company. Promise you work will be done before you enter, these are lies just to get you to sign the lease. Once you have signed will just dodge questions and say it is out of their control even though the property is fully managed by them. When viewing the flat it had good potential but was quite dirty and walls significantly marked. We were repeatedly reassured that it would be painted and professionally cleaned before we entered, this did not happen. Seemingly the landlord did a little painting and possible ran a hoover over the place themselves but: Carpets dirty, walls marked, mould in freezer, oven very dirty, what appears to be blood on the ceiling in the bathroom, kitchen work surface damaged, lights missing etc. We were promised that all appliances in the flat would be staying. Much to our surprise when we arrive the first day and the TV and microwave are gone. The TV was huge (definitely over 40 inch), a big plus point of the flat. At the viewing we directly asked twice if it would be staying, the answer both times was yes. On the first day we call asking what happened to them? Apparently Martin and Co. will have a word with the landlord about the TV and microwave, this will take 48 hours, we have been in the flat 5 days and no word on when they will reappear despite calling them daily. Today we were then blamed that we should have requested them when we asked for the painting and cleaning to be done. So we were supposed to be able to guess that they were going to lie to us and pre-emptively request something we had been repeatedly told would be there. We probably should have seen the danger signs when it took them 7 goes to get the lease right with dates and prices repeatedly wrong, forcing us to move in a day late after they discovered the boiler wasn't working. In summary don't be gullible like us! If Martin and Co. tell you something will be done it won't be, you are on your own.
I had a really disturbing experience trying to rent a flat with Martin & Co. We were supposed to move in the flat offered by this agency on Monday(18/04). On Monday morning (11/04) we had a missed phone call from the agency. I phoned back and their system was down so they did not know why they contacted me, and told me they will get back to me once the system is back up. The following day, not having been contacted by them again, I went to their office to check if all was going well. They told me that the flat that we were supposed to move in (in 6 days time) was not available anymore, because the Landlady already found another tenant. Just to clarify, this was all happening after paying the deposit to secure the flat. While they did leave a voice mail for my flatmate, that was the only thing they did to let us know that we would not be able to move out (no e-mail, no attempt to contact us again). Upon speaking to them, they offered me the option to view another one of their flats, and, after I refused, they did send me the deposit back by the end of the week. We were put in an extremely awkward situation, where we had to find a new flat within 10 days. They did very little to let us know about what was happening. One other thing was the mandatory landlord insurance that we had to make, which was first mentioned in the sample contract. This was an additional cost that we were not told about after paying the deposit and getting the procedure started. All these considered, I would advise against working with this agency.

Worst agency I have ever experienced in my life as a tenant. The use a fake 3rd party company to do the checkin and checkout inspections so that they can keep your deposit and blame the other company. They try to charge you for maintenance work so that they don't have to pay for it. When you go to the branch to actually speak to people they pretend they can't do anything and you have to chase them via email. Only way to deal with them is by getting help from an ombudsman.
One of the worst agents I have used! Like to rip off tenants and landlords (we were tenants) Signed the outgoing inventory, to later find they added comments at the end, and we are now out of pocket! Told that it's a 3rd party who do the outgoing checks, and the sparky who did the PAT testing on appliances arrived?? Looked into it, and Silver City Servies have the same address as Martin and Co in Rosemount? Hardly a 3rd party!! Don't know how they can get away with this
Martin & Co take advantage of landlords!!! They don't honor their quotes and charge the landlord more than they quoted you to market your property. They charge you but don't want to do any work like viewings. Very rude staff like their branch manager James and staff Evie. Don't trust their quotes or services. They verbally agree on the prices but charge you more in reality!!!
Absolutely appalling service. Still have a broken oven and I've moved in for about 3 months and nothing is fixed despite multiple emails.
Absolutely awful customer service, honestly recommend to stay away. Communications skills are poor, nothing gets fixed when asked and you constantly have to chase them up. They dont go trough formality atall. I've had an awful experience, it's really not worth all the hassle they put you through.
Updated - I moved out from my apartment after 2 years of absolutely pathetic service. For maintenance issues during most part of my tenancy period, Martin and Co. said they couldn't get in touch with my landlord and thus couldn't go ahead with the repairs. We had to pay the full rent despite numerous inconveniences over this period. Exactly couple of weeks before I move out, contractors are employed and maintenance works are completed(yes - during the last 2 weeks when we were paying the rent and even without taking prior permission to carry out the works!!). To rub more salt to injury, almost half the deposit is taken off saying the landlord(who re-appeared after about 16 months) wants the repair works to be taken out of the deposit! Take my advice and stay away from Martin and Co if you're a tenant looking for a property! Extremely biased towards the landlord when it comes to maintenance issues.
