RESPONSE TO REPLY The check in report says the property is dirty. With cobwebs and dirty cupboards and oven. The check out report says the property is generally clean, neat and tidy. How do you explain the 125 pound cleaning fee? There were several mistakes in the check out report where they are claiming for things that were also in the check in report. Marks on the walls, hole in the walls and weeds. We were threatened about removal fee to remove lampshades that we bought to improve the property. But you say you take in to account the fact that we made the protect better? How do you explain that? My advice again be very cautious with this company and their "independent inventory check". Do not listen to the threats against using the tenancy deposit scheme. It there to protect you not them. ⚠️ My advice to anyone renting through this estate agent: wait until the end of your tenancy before leaving a review. Use the TDS, do not allow money from your deposit to be deducted illegally. We are giving this estate agent 1 star based on our experience. The property was advertised at one price. When we said we wanted it, Lauren told us other people were interested and that we would have to bid. We ended up paying £50 more per month than advertised. Lauren then asked us for a review shortly afterwards. We chose to wait until the end of the tenancy — and we're glad we did. Throughout the tenancy we looked after the property and we're very understanding about shortcomings on their side. We were very accomodating and helpful when they needed us. Despite this when we moved out, they attempted to deduct £125 cleaning, £75 oven cleaning and £60 for paint chips, despite the property being left clean, the oven being filthy when we moved in, and many of the paint chips already being there. When we said we wanted to use the tenancy deposit scheme to dispute the deductions, we were strongly discouraged from doing so. We were told it would be costly and time-consuming and warned that further charges could be made, including for light shades we had purchased ourselves and a Sky box that had been removed by the landlord. My advice: photograph and video everything when you move in and out, keep all correspondence, and don't feel pressured into accepting deductions you disagree with. And if you're asked for a review shortly after moving in, wait. You haven't experienced the full service yet. Proceed with caution.

Spoke to someone on the phone to try and book in a viewing on a property - the guy wouldn't even let me go and view the property because I wasn't sure on my move out dates. I asked if I could just see it before I firmed anything up and he said no - which I think is just him being lazy. Really rude and just poor service.
We were looking for a home to rent in the downtown reading area, and chose to schedule a viewing for a property being let by Winkworth. The agent who showed up was rude and knew absolutely nothing about the property. The property itself was in complete disrepair, which was absolutely not shown properly in the photos or the virtual walkthrough posted online. We drove from Salisbury for the viewing and it was a complete waste of our time. Avoid this agency unless you really enjoy being lied to.
The letting agents were extremely frustrating to deal with, and I'm a landlord myself, so imagine. RESPONSE TO THEIR COMMENT: We left the property in good condition with receipt of professional cleaners. Any excuse to just take our deposit. Thankfully they knew they were in the wrong and gave up on trying to take 60% of our deposit. Avoid at all costs.
Rubbish like any british letting agency. The process is always the same: 1) Advertise an overpriced "ruin" known as room or flat nowadays though edited pictures to make it look better than it is. 2)During the viewing dont forget to lie and conceal important information from the tenant. Remember they dont give a damn about you, they just want your money. 3) After the contract is secured make sure to ask for a couple of months rent in advance as a deposit. Yes people renting nowadays dont want a roof on their head. Deep down they want to vandalize your property. You got us!!! 4) Should any issues arise make sure to take a couple of weeks to reply. In the event that someone insists about a repair in the rented "ruin" make sure to use your super powers! SECTION 21 EVICTION notice. Why? Because you dared to ask for some decency in your "ruin". NOPE. You dont matter my friend. But your pocket does. 5)Make sure to deliver the final blow! Keep the whole deposit by blaming the tenant for everything that is wrong inside the "ruin". After all it your reward for your "hard work". 6) Last step. While the tenant is trying to move out make sure to harass them and stress them as much as possible. Once they are out of the "ruin" re- advertise the "ruin" BUT dont forget to list at least 200£ more expensive. After all the more its "value" increases so do the chances for it to collapse. BRAVO!
Winkworth lettings department, particularly Jasmine, seem to be incapable of organising workmen to maintain the property. They often don't reply, and more often don't take any action.. It has currently taken since September 2024 to simply have a weather bar put on a door.
Terrible experience with this agency, bad service and no support during tenancy. Ridiculous charges in the end of tenancy.
They sent me a email with information about a 3 bedroom house I rang them to speak about it.they had no information about it they said there ring me back it’s been 4days now had no phone call back.maybe it’s my surname being Greek but born in the uk.
Horrendous experience renting through them!! Only giving 1 star because I can’t give 0. Had to get my money back by going through a dispute as they refused to give it back.
