Richard James sold our house, which is great! However, I felt we had to continuously push for activity and, if we hadn't adamantly refused to drop our price because we knew our house was worth what we had marketed it for, they would happily have sold it for £10-20k lower than the price we finally achieved. The team are friendly but we did feel a bit like a number rather than receiving any real service and only seemed to get a positive reception when things were going well for them, rather than when we actually needed them to step up and create activity - the biggest flurry of activity was created by us threatening to leave them for another agency. There didn't seem much interest in why we were selling and helping us with the next steps, all of which was promised as part of the instruction appointment. If you are looking for a quick sale of a fairly generic house in Swindon they will be great but for something a bit out of the ordinary where you want/ need bespoke service there are probably other agencies who would serve you better.
The photos taken by Nicole of my house were excellent! However, the rest of my experience with RJ has had it’s ups and downs. I didn’t feel the contract and small print was explained properly to me. It was all very rushed. Thankfully, I was still in the cooling off period when I was able to re-negotiate the commission fee. The wrong photos were uploaded to Rightmove initially. Even though the offer was accepted on my house in February 2018, the sold sign has never gone up (June 2018). I was led to believe that my house was worth more than it was to draw me into a contract, I believe. However, despite these and some other issues, Mark Stacey has been great when I’ve given him an ear bashing. Also, Sharon Clark has been lovely to deal with in what has been a very stressful process so far. Let’s hope moving day goes smoothly in 2 weeks time!

Always difficult to get an appointment , at a convenient time. Same problem with Wroughton Office last week.
Be careful they represent both sides! I paid for a premium service and got anything but. The tenants they found trashed the property their own estimation £1,700 worth of damage. I had to chase at every stage to get them to act, they deducted fees without agreement and communication was poor, taking ages for a reply, and they keep you rent for almost a week before handing it on to you. Appalling practice. Then as they try and negotiate to keep the tenants I find out they were representing the tenants in a sale! The very meaning of conflict of interest! I have tried to raise a complaint and get met with defensiveness. Only recourse I now have is to go to the ombudsman. They have had the full deposit return and report from the TDS since 31st July and here we are almost in September and I still don’t have my deposit to cover the damage, they have not progressed the complaint and they want to charge me for the check out inventory that they hid from costs in the agreement. Truly living up to the reputation of Estate Agents. Rent yourself and just have a good solicitor draw up your agreements, their service offers literally nothing of added value.
Worst chain of estate agents I have ever used . Would be zero stars if the option was available. Use mcfarlane's . I bought my new house through mcfarlane's, in swindon. They were absolutely flawless, above and beyond, brilliant service. Honestly cant praise them enough.
Seems like unless you line their pockets they'll treat you like dog crap
Struggling to get the things sorted on a rented property (agent managed) since we moved in since February 2023, recently we raised an issue as electric hob and oven stopped working, it's been almost 10 days without cooking now...
We purchased a property through this estate agent, and it was an awful experience. Prior completion, we were referred to their process completion team/company. AsAp. We don't actually know what they did or do, and from the limited communication, neither did they. The worst was on our scheduled day of completion. Firstly, we were called about releasing the keys to the property we were purchasing. So they got ours and the seller information mixed up. Then we called and told keys would be ready at 2pm. (3 hours after our solicitor advised us they should now be ready) Upon arrival at 2pm, were told the keys weren't ready as the seller was still moving out. So left and went home. Called again and arranged to go back ar 3, and on the second visit 3.15 told again, they were still not available. This could have been avoided with courtesy call to save unnecessary journeys, but they were to busy sitting on social media. When I got home, my partner was on the phone to them, where they told her completely different information, which was incorrect. We finally got all keys to the property at 4.45 after my partner held them to their offer of dropping the keys off. A terrible experience made worse by the lack of communication and contradiction of actions.
