The core idea behind Goodlord is straightforward enough. Verify identity, confirm income, and move tenants along without too much friction. In fairness, the platform itself is simple enough to navigate, and at first glance it all seems fairly efficient. That is about where the positives stop. I provided what I believe was clear and easily verifiable documentation, yet I was asked three separate times to submit additional information. Each time I responded quickly, only to be asked for something else again. After a while it stops feeling like proper checks and starts feeling like a process that no one is really managing properly. What really threw me was being told they had contacted my employer directly. I work for a large multinational company, so I have no idea who they thought they were contacting or whether they even reached the right person. That then left me having to chase internally and also reach out to Goodlord myself just to get some clarity, which defeats the whole point of using a service like this in the first place. Trying to get help through their support system only made things worse. It is unnecessarily complicated and frustrating to deal with, and it feels like it is set up in a way that avoids people actually getting through to someone. The irony is they had no issue calling me when it came to offering add ons like WiFi, but when I actually needed help, getting hold of them was far from straightforward. Now, despite everything seemingly being submitted, I have not heard anything since Friday. This has left me in a position where I will miss my move in date, which adds even more stress to what is already a difficult situation. Overall, the service looks polished on the surface, but the experience has been frustrating, unclear, and far more complicated than it needed to be. There is something that could work well here, but right now it feels poorly handled and lacking any real sense of coordination or communication.
1 star is generous 1 year on tenant hasn't been evicted still.owed 4 months rent just completed a court case still awaiting balliffs order estate agent has monopolize and controlled management of policy no transparency or accountability in 30.years of renting my property never seen a mismanagement poor.communucation
Currently in the process of trying to rent a house with my partner, the entire process has been an absolute nightmare using this "service" goodlord 'provides". No actual humans, just chat bots, issues aren't resolved, ever. Goodlord are absolutely not fit for service, should not be used by letting agents, and by chance if your letting agents try to set you up with this do yourself a big favour a refuse to use it. Absolute shambles.
Beware!.....don't let your Agents use this Company if you're self employed or have complicated financial or past matrimonial issues, take your fees very quickly then they make it so "tech focused" that you can't talk to a human being, definitely not a "user friendly" company, plenty out there that are.
Trying to speak to someone at Goodlord for 3 days now and they just keep you on hold. Pathetic customer service.
If you are a Landlord, please, please do not put your tenants off by using GoodLord or find a way to workaround its roadblocks and get the confirmation you need via other means when the application fails. As a Landlord, your goal is to get the information you need to rent out your property. The goal is not to follow a software application that has arduos processes that may not work. Referencing via GoodLord is the worst experience I have ever had. I honestly can't believe they purchased Vouch which has an efficient and quick process. Instead, Goodlord uses a bot that mandates a potential renter to connect their bank account or link to HMRC when they can easily confirm the customer's income from payslips or directly from their employer or from 3 months bank statement. What are they doing with all that personal information and how is it legal and compliant with GDPR? Failures/weaknesses of using bots/AI should have been compensated by human agents when the process is delaying/failing. Goodlord do not do this but can bombard you with marketing emails, calls, and texts for utility packages. Very invasive & tedious reference check requiring so many processes, several written responses, taking so much time (almost 2 weeks). Whoever designed this platform does not have user/customer experience in mind considering the stress the renter is already facing moving house.
The worst application i have ever experience. Wish i could provide negative feedback. I dont like the customer service at all. Hard to get through the Bot
I have applied to rent somewhere where local of a private landlord, who for some reason uses this terrible prying service. They want to know absolutely everything about you, copies of bank statements for 3 months, wage slips, videos of yourself, then you have to give them permission to electronically link your bank account to them so they can see in your account and then some. So by the end of it, they know absolutely everything about you, bank account number, credit card details, how much money you have, how much you spend a month, what you spend that money on, then all this info can be sold to companies for cold calling or bombarding you with emails trying to sell you stuff, when all you need is credit check, ID check, and something like a P60 for proof of earnings, its a absolute sham
Signed me up for bills without permission, with unknown companies. Refusing to assist
The worst example of ‘computer says no’ I have come across for a long time.
