The core idea behind Goodlord is straightforward enough. Verify identity, confirm income, and move tenants along without too much friction. In fairness, the platform itself is simple enough to navigate, and at first glance it all seems fairly efficient. That is about where the positives stop. I provided what I believe was clear and easily verifiable documentation, yet I was asked three separate times to submit additional information. Each time I responded quickly, only to be asked for something else again. After a while it stops feeling like proper checks and starts feeling like a process that no one is really managing properly. What really threw me was being told they had contacted my employer directly. I work for a large multinational company, so I have no idea who they thought they were contacting or whether they even reached the right person. That then left me having to chase internally and also reach out to Goodlord myself just to get some clarity, which defeats the whole point of using a service like this in the first place. Trying to get help through their support system only made things worse. It is unnecessarily complicated and frustrating to deal with, and it feels like it is set up in a way that avoids people actually getting through to someone. The irony is they had no issue calling me when it came to offering add ons like WiFi, but when I actually needed help, getting hold of them was far from straightforward. Now, despite everything seemingly being submitted, I have not heard anything since Friday. This has left me in a position where I will miss my move in date, which adds even more stress to what is already a difficult situation. Overall, the service looks polished on the surface, but the experience has been frustrating, unclear, and far more complicated than it needed to be. There is something that could work well here, but right now it feels poorly handled and lacking any real sense of coordination or communication.
