Very good experience with Martin and Co Basingstoke. Managed to get all paperwork done very quickly when arranging to rent a property. The agents I dealt with - primarily Lindsay, Cloe and Andrew - were all equally knowledgeable of my situation and happy to help out around the clock. All of them were always happy to spend a little extra time to make sure everything was explained properly and their general service and demeanour was very positive.

The Lettings side of Martin & Co have to balance the competing demands of tenants and landlords to achieve a mutually acceptable, and one hopes, a long term arrangement. I have let my property through Martin & Co in Basingstoke for a number of years and from a landlord's point of view, have found little over that time for complaint. The members of the team, including Property management, have been prompt, professional and committed to providing the best solution for tenant and landlord alike. Having used other letting agents in the past in Basingstoke, I can confirm that there are indeed sub-standard operations out there but Martin & Co is not one of them!

Staff are really nice, friendly, and helpful, but don't sign up to the Tenant shop if they offer you the option to. When I signed up I was automatically enrolled with the Tenant shop who are meant to find you good deals on insurance and bills and stuff (i think they must have some kind of business deal with Martins) and they were awful. I found way better offers elsewhere and were kind of snarky when I said I wanted to figure it out on my own. But Martins themselves have always been fantastic and very kind. Without the Tenant shop it would be 5 stars.

I would have rated them as okay but recent events have left me very unhappy with the service. The communication is poor and a very high turnover of staff causing regular mistakes. I will consider new letting agents when current tenants leave.

Well, they are bad. Don't even want to waste time on describing how bad they are. Now I've decided to move out next year. Very unhappy. Will NEVER touch this company again.

Shocking customer service. This company never responds to urgent enquiries (email or voicemail) and their telephone manner is most unfriendly. After a rushed viewing, I phoned the office to express my interest (knowing that properties go very quickly) and willing to pay holding fee over the phone. I called, only to be stopped mid-sentence by Andrew Sheldon and told to call back in ten minutes. I was driving at the time using my handsfree. After ten minutes I phoned back. No response.I called again five times. I came to the conclusion that everyone had gone home and that I had been essentially fobbed off. If the property was no longer available, why not just tell me there and then? I left a message stating I wanted the property and if someone could call me first thing - regardless of the outcome. I waited all morning for a call, even sending a follow up email.Again nothing. I was at work, so it took my partner to ring up, only to be told that the property had been let out. No apology for lack of communication. This whole endeavour cost me a great deal of time, money and worry. after this, I would NEVER consider letting a property from Martin & co. I would strongly advise against using this agency. They simply do not seem to care.

Unfairly screwed by early termination fares and over 2 months of additional rent cause another tenant was not found - despite the building being a very popular place to rent. Hope they will understand one day tenants are human beings and one may need to leave a property without it costing £2,400.
