As specified on numerous other reviews: they dont respond to emails or voicemails; dont answer the phone. After 1 email, 2 voicemails and 10 calls I tried pressing a different extension, the chap put me through to the lettings department (so there is someone there then!). "Sorry that property is fully booked now". Right. So despite me calling and emailing within 10mins of it being added, and calling the the following morning and then calling a further TEN times. You couldnt be bothered to look through the list of enquiries in chronological order and book viewings? What is the point. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
My husband and I booked to view a property yesterday in Salisbury having travelled down from Bedfordshire and spending £200 on a hotel. The property was adverised last Wednesday and viewings were to be held yesterday. At 0915 yesterday we we called to say our 1130 viewing was cancelled as the property was already taken! After explaining our situation Luke agreed we could view the property but called back shortly after to say the current tenants were self isolating. Luke said he would email forms to me and we could go ahead without viewing the property. I am still waiting a day later for the email to arrive even though I cleary spelt out my email address after Luke said he'd tried to unsuccessfully forward them. The annoying thing is I noticed the property was showing 'let agreed' on Rightmove on Friday but assumed this was done to stop enquiries. If we had been informed on Friday we could have saved a 3 hour car journey and a £200 hotel bill. Why lie? Why not just be honest with people? Disgraceful, dishonest and very unprofessional company - please don't believe anything they say and you will save yourself a lot of hassle (and expense in our case).NegativeResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism
Horrible lettings company. Will do anything to get out of maintenance issues. Pay your rent and keep your head down. If you want anything fixing, do it yourself, out of your own pocket. Don't say you weren't warned!
They lied to me many times. Let me give examples. I booked one property for viewing and just before viewing they cancelled it. The reason they gave was they got offer for it. Second time they did same for another property. When I said i will take it they said first all viewings must finish then landlord will decide who will get it. But they cancelled my viewings and said the property was gone. They make and break their own rules again and again. I am deeply disappointed with them and will never recommend or use their services . We had a viewing booked for a property, and were told the earliest appointment was a week later. We requested a booking online as well which never got a response. A day before our viewing, they message cancelling saying that it's been let. This is incredibly surprising and outrageous when they specified on the listing that letting is not based on a first come first served basis, and all viewings and offers would be allowed before a decision was made.NegativeResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism
Terrible recent experience trying to let a property with Bassets, would not recommend. They put properties on the market that you're not allowed to view for 2-4 weeks which isn't ideal if you need to move in a hurry, their reasoning for this is "COVID safety" but no other letting agency we've spoken to as of late has had these rules. Understandable that you need to give tenants fair notice for viewings but if you can't show properties to potential tenants in a reasonable time frame why advertise them? We had 2 viewings cancelled in two weeks with the excuse that they'd already been let (reading recent reviews this seems to be commonplace) - this is interesting considering we were apparently "first in line" to view one of the properties as assured to us by the assistant manager. Phone calls to their team, if answered at all, are met with a "You're bothering us" attitude, all around unprofessional and not helpful. Unfortunately they seem to manage most of the rental properties in Salisbury so I guess they feel like they don't need to bother providing decent customer service as the rental market is saturated right now and they can cherry pick who they're going to let to rather than keeping it fair for all the poor suckers that are desperate for a place to live. In the end we've gone with Salisbury Lettings who have been wonderful to deal with, so much more helpful and friendly, and thankful for it as we would not want to know what Bassets are like once you're actually paying them money.
