They have the monopoly of many good properties. Service has been good so far, although they have a bit of a reputation if you check online.

Dear Mr Perez-Vega Many thanks for taking the time to post a review and we appreciate your comments posted to date. We do have one of the largest collection of properties in Reading and secure more tenancies than any other agent - this we believe is a testament to the service we offer. I do hope that you enjoy your new home and if for any reason you need assistance please contact us immediately. With regards to reviews - most feedback received is direct to our office - a collection of customer reviews is posted onto your website reviews section at www.haslams.net. We welcome all feedback so that we can ensure we're constantly working to improve services to our customers. Tim Harding Head of Operations

I have been renting privately with Haslams since 2017. One of the key benefits is that they are a local estate agent to Berkshire offering rental properties in a reasonably good condition. However, the positives end there. Firstly, if you have maintenance issues and need to liaise with either an allocated property manager or contractor, then there is zero urgency to get them fixed or resolved. For example, when I moved in, I waited many months for a plumbing and washing machine issue to be resolved and had to chase them for a response numerous times. Again, I have a similar situation since the end of February 2024 with getting the washing machine serviced after a fault and I am still waiting for it to be fixed. Secondly, Haslams, as the agent of the landlord, are happy to propose annual rent increases (only reprieve was in 2020 for the pandemic) without any property refreshes (eg painting, filling in settling cracks etc) and ignoring the cost of living crisis, which potentially has the effect of pricing out single households. Thirdly, for properties where the external parts of the property are managed by a separate company (Pinnacle, in this case), there are often delays as there appears to be very little coordination between Haslams and the block management company (Pinnacle). A good example of this is when our fence was blown down in October 2023 because of extremely strong winds and nothing was done for ages. In addition, there is no proper bin storage factored into the design of the grounds and it has never been addressed by either party. For these reasons and more I would not recommend Haslams.

A bit overpriced properties (properties are not bad but the agency needs to think about evaluation seriously)!
