Extremely disappointed with the services from the agents. We had booked an appointment for 16:30 today but an accident on the way to the viewing meant that we would be 5 minutes late to the appointment, we gave them a courtesy call prior to coming in to let us know that we would be a few minutes late despite leaving on time. Christine, who answered the phone was extremely rude and unsympathetic towards our situation. I understand through experience that house viewings only take a few minutes to complete and it would not take until 5pm to complete the viewing as they claimed they had another appointment for then. We were extremely hopeful for this property but feel as though we have dodged a bullet given that this is how the estate agents were willing to talk to potential renters. They have completely missed out on some well- established, professional tenants.
Hidden costs when ending the contract, unprofessional and uncompassionate company. I'd avoid using them again.
Absolutely disgraceful behavior, changed the viewing last minute and didnt even bother to show up at the new time or if they did, didnt bother to call us to confirm. Left us standing in the heat for 30mins with no explanation. Unprofessional!! We drove all the way from southampton.
My experience with Home Finders, and particularly Hayley, was extremely disappointing. From the beginning of the tenancy I reported numerous issues including cleanliness concerns, faulty lights, a defective bath plug, blinds that would not stay up, exposed carpet grippers that cut my daughters’ feet, and other maintenance problems that should have been identified before a tenant moved in. The most serious issue was a kitchen hob fire the day I moved in. The incident caused significant damage, destroyed personal belongings and left smoke contamination throughout the property. Despite the seriousness of the situation, I found the response slow, communication poor and the overall handling of the aftermath inadequate. Many issues required repeated chasing and I was often left feeling that my concerns were being dismissed rather than resolved. Simple repairs and maintenance requests took far longer than they should have done, and there appeared to be little urgency despite the number of problems being reported. To make matters worse, a substantial deposit claim was made at the end of the tenancy. I disputed the claim through the Tenancy Deposit Scheme and an independent adjudicator significantly reduced the amount claimed after considering the evidence from both parties. Based on my experience, I found the service unprofessional, reactive rather than proactive, and frustrating to deal with throughout the tenancy. I would not use Home Finders again and would not recommend them to others looking to rent a property, if you use them take pictures and collect evidence of absolutely everything when you move in.
Phoned up on a Wednesday afternoon to view a property in Newcastle and was told that the only available slot was noon on the Friday. My husband and I rearranged another appointment, took the day off work and travelled the 1.5 hour journey to Newcastle (we explained at time of booking we weren’t local). 15 mins before scheduled time we got a phone call from the agent to say they hadn’t had a confirmation from the vendor but they were usually in. But guess what - agent turned up and couldn’t get access as there was no one there. Didn’t really apologise - just explained that they thought they had an offer but it fell through so they didn’t confirm our viewing. Totally unprofessional.
Unfortunately we were charged a "cleaning fee" despite leaving the property spotless. Nothing more than legalised theft.
Worst response from agents
Avoid this agency. We rented through them for nearly five years, and our experience has been consistently disappointing. When we first moved into the property, it was advertised as having been “professionally cleaned,” but the reality was far from it — the home was dirty and grubby, to the point that we had to pay for a cleaner ourselves. Routine inspections were poorly managed; we would receive emails with scheduled dates, only for no one to show up, or for the visits to be repeatedly rescheduled. When our washing machine broke, it took over eight weeks to get a replacement. Repairs were generally slow — for example, we waited over a year for a replacement garage door fob after the engineer sent by the agency accidentally broke the original one. Despite his apology and promise to order a new one, the quote was apparently never approved. To make matters worse, we were charged for that same fob when we eventually moved out. We also had ongoing issues with damp and mould that were never properly resolved. At one point, part of the living room ceiling collapsed, narrowly missing my wife. The repair took months and was clearly done as cheaply as possible, with little concern for appearance or quality. When the landlord decided to sell, we were told by Homefinders that we were among their best tenants — we had never missed a payment, maintained the property well, and even improved it. They encouraged us to rent another property through them. We found a suitable home, paid a £450 holding deposit, and went through the referencing process, only to fail due to an old credit issue related to a dispute with a car dealer. Despite explaining the situation, Homefinders kept our deposit, ignored our calls, and when we finally reached someone, the lettings manager simply told us we should “consider renting through a different agency.” After five years of loyalty, reliability, and respect as tenants, we were treated with complete disregard. I would strongly advise others to avoid renting through this agency.
I Was given a date and time for viewing , got there 4mins to the viewing time, their agent wasnt at the property yet, I and my family waited for 20mins , still didn’t get a call nor a text to say they were running late and atleast apologized, called their office , the lady I spoke to , kept telling me her colleague was closed by, and that she would be there in few mins, few mins turned to 20minutes, still didn’t show up. I was there with both my babies, one infant and one toddler and husband. Just wasted our time. I would have really appreciated if I got a call or text, but yet you guys left us there, and it was a rainy day. I’m disappointed and not pleased .
They will unfairly deduct charges from the deposit at the end of the lease.
