Inexperienced agents

Service was impeccable up until the day we moved in.. Then noone turned up to our check-in and it was all downhill from there - almost 2 weeks later and we still don't have all the keys for the property. Charlotte has been unhelpful, unapologetic and even rude - she seems inexperienced and unable to act appropriately when things go wrong. Tonte has so far been proactive and helpful, hopefully things will improve in his hands.

Scamming letting agent! Landlord be aware! This letting agent will take your annual letting fee in advance and will not refund if the tenancy ends early! We have let Madley manage our flat in Bermondsey and the single AST tenancy was between April 2022 to July 2023 over the length over 14.5 months. However, they have charged us 24 months of letting fee in advance. When the tenancy ends, they would not give the refund for the remaining period. Landlords stay away from these scammers!

Dear Tong, I am disappointed that you have felt the need to write this review, at Madley we always strive for excellent customer service. However, our terms and conditions are very clear and fair about what happens in these situations, and you were fully aware of our terms when you gave the tenants notice. Our terms clearly state that a refund is only due if the tenant gives notice. I’m sorry that you are now not happy, but as a company we make it clear at the outset, through our terms and conditions, what we do and how we charge, and we have only charged within those clear guidelines. Kind regards, Madley

I would not even rate them one star. Absolutely the worst letting agency, they are extreamly rude and racist towards others. I have never seen a company like this before in my life. They ignore your issues and concerns and they couldn't careless about trying to help you solve problems for your property but yet they expect rent on time. I would advise everyone to stay away from this fraud company, they will leave you in a room with leaks and mould growing in your bathroom without getting it fixed. Absolutely the worst company.

Dear Shukri, Anyone who reads the feedback and reviews our company receives will see that our team are very polite and courteous. We have a hard working and diverse team who would never ignore issues or act in the ways you have suggested. Our role within the management of the building in which you were renting a room was very limited and has now ended. However, if you’d still like to speak to me about the issue you may do so by emailing jaimie@madleyproperty.com.

Beware of this agency and it’s properties 14 Western Gateway , i rented a flat 2 bed for a year . Worse decision i made in my life , the entire tenancy was a mess and extreme stress . First they used fake pictures of the property . It never was in those conditions . Then the landlord promises he will bring the property to its pictures condition , never happened during the entire year . Not even a bulb was changed. The landlord is a major problem , he harrases you every day with emails containing threats , creates some so called problems and issues that you create reported by the concierge and its a total drama , however the concierge always told us there where never any complaints of any kind . The landlord never speaks to you directly , he creates fake emails of his so called friends & lawyers that have @gmail accounts (fake) and they all have the same ip address = same person . This landlord forces you to meet with banks for mortgage valuations taking up your personal time to resolve his personal issues otherwise you are threatened with eviction . He will tell you to also lie to the inspectors about the amount you pay for rent so he can get approved. When you leave don’t expect the entire deposit , he will want to change furniture and decorate and paint the flat with your money . Too bad for him that deposits protected are only being used for rent in arrears , damages to the structure of the property. The agency never helps , first they tell you they manage the property , then they don’t is the landlord . The landlord is nowhere to be found when you need him and if you keep trying to get in touch he will make you leave the property to keep your deposit. As you can see reading all reviews it’s a common practice , they will need at least 300 pounds from your deposit .

We are very sorry to hear about the issues you have had with a property that was rented through us. We always assist let only tenants with issues they may have however, as the property was not managed by us and not under our control there was very limited influence we could have in this matter. We can assure you that any images used in marketing a property would be of the actual property but it’s very disappointing to hear that the landlord did not follow up on promises to carry out works there for you. thank you for your feedback.

We have rent a flat in the City of London via Madley in September 2019. They are not honest at all. They didn’t tell us the windows is broken until we moved in, we didn’t know why the house is freezing cold. After mentioned to them, they said the windows has been broken for a while. Same as the built in curtain. One of the big window has no curtain, people from outside can see everything in the bedroom, no privacy. We can’t do anything because it’s electronic curtain, it needs professional to fix it. It has been almost half year since they said they will fix it, but nothing happened. The worst part is our heating, yes we have no heating since our hot water storage has been broken. They said they will fix that but still broken. For most winter we have no heating and freezing cold. Also have to spent mire money to use emergency hot water and our electronic heating fan. Before we moved in to the fair, since we are not in London, they told us the house will be gone in a week time, so we had better do the video viewing, it’s ok for us to do the video viewing. However we don’t think they are honest, they seems avoid for all the broken furnitures even the flat is furnished, so technically we pay more for our rent. But the problem is, you shouldn’t give people the broken furnitures. Also, when we first moved in, the hose is not clean, there are bunch of stuff from previous tenant like thermal bottle type of things. And we can see the dust and someone’s hair. After we complained, they sent a cleaner to clean the house, all the problem still there, include there is still someone’s hair in the random corner and the wall is still have oil on the top. So far I couldn’t see any evidence they trying to do there job properly. Very disappointed. Even you called them, they will only said, send the ticket online, otherwise they can’t do anything. But they ignore our online requests several times!

FRAUD warning! This agency together with a fraudster landlord D.T. at Ability Place building stole our deposit of 2500 pounds. They collaborated together as the agency kept the deposit instead of transferring it to an independent company. Save yourself from what I had to go through! You can see below how they are bullying me to remove the review. They are threatening me over email and phone all day today. Avoid at all costs!!!! Scam with fake reviews from fake accounts. I've reported them to the Police.

Posted 12th March This review is fraudulent and completely dishonest. We do not manage this property and as the tenant and the landlord are unable to agree on an amounts we MUST transfer it to the TDS so they can carry out their arbitration process. Madely property London Bridge letting agency and Tonte Bo Douglas, one of their agents that we had to deal with, are the worst people and letting agency you will ever find. Avoid at all costs. I am amazed how they answered below all bad reviews about them by saying it is a fraud or the person was never in their data base. Easy exit to not take responsibility for their bad and dishonest service and behaviours and the mountains of lies they apparently gave to many other people not just us. And the only good reviews are always about selling. Of course because they make money out of it, but if you are the tenant, they will make the money out of you! To avoid any doubt finding our dossier, or say it is a fraud review, we rented a one bedroom flat in Empire Square South for three years, and happy to name the landlord and give all needed details. It all started in flowers, but once we signed the contract and they took our deposit money, it all went wrong. It is very sad that three years later, we left the flat shining, professionally cleaned and in much better conditions that when we got it from them, but regardless, they are tirelessly trying to steal half of our deposit money without any reasonable ground. Charging in their report (they asked us to pay for it double its price) extremely high amount for things that weren't missing and are not damaged (shelves in the kitchen? Why would we take with us a shelf?!). We added a cabinet in the bathroom that has zero storage area when we moved in, we changed the clogged plastic shower head, hose and the rotten shower curtain holder to brand new ones, with our own money. To set a one example. In the last four month of our tenancy, the balcony door handle and mechanism broke, we couldn't close it anymore. We reported it, but they kept sending people who are not qualified to fix it, then the balcony door – extremely heavy - fall on me. I also reported it, but they couldn’t care less for putting my life in danger. We stopped opening the door and using our balcony because we were scared it will fall again. We lived in the flat with no openings other than the bedroom window for four months, and of course in all that time, we paid full rent. And then we couldn’t accept this behaviour anymore, we gave our move out notice, then two days later, they sent that we got approval to fix the door. How pathetic. Only because they knew they can’t rent it again without fixing the door, they were interested now. The list is long. Very disappointing and dishonest. Lying to our face all the time as if we are idiots. This experience caused us a lot of stress, wasted our time, and until now we didn’t have our deposit money back. We are dealing with a bunch of money hungry with no moral at all. And it is the first time in my life that I leave a review this way. It is very frustrating to have to deal with them, I hope no one else will have to. Avoid.
