Sparks Ellison have a good reputation locally as reflected in their market share. There is no doubt the front end of the business i.e. actually bringing the property to market and getting the sale is a slick operation . Unfortunately post sale things become less slick. It may be a result of their large market share and therefore workload for the back office staff, but communication becomes sporadic to say the least. We found we got more information from other estate agents in the chain than the one we were paying. There does not seem to be a schedule in place to keep clients informed . My advice would be on choosing an estate agent would be to look beyond the initial sale.

Many thanks for your review Robert. Naturally we are disappointed to hear that your experience was not as you expected or hoped. Ironically, our sales progression service, managed by Victoria, is one of the most highlighted positives in the 5* reviews that we receive. Victoria’s name is the one that is repeated and recommended more than anyone. However, we do appreciate that you can only review on your own personal experience so we will take this on board and review our contact system to ensure that all sellers are receiving their updates as regularly as expected. Thank you very much for choosing to sell with Sparks Ellison and we wish you all the best in your new home.

Zero professionalism. It is the second time they cancel my viewings saying an offer has already been made and accepted even without knowing if I would make a better offer on the houses. If you are a seller, please think twice before getting in business with these people.

Hi Antonio, We are very sorry that you feel this way and disappointed that your experience has led to this review. As discussed when we spoke, our responsibility is to act in the best interests of our clients when selling their property. On this occasion, the seller received an offer that they felt was too good to refuse and therefore decided to accept it and cancel any further viewings. We completely understand how frustrating and disappointing this must have been for you, particularly as we know you are in a strong position to proceed with a purchase. Unfortunately, once a seller has made that decision, we are simply left with the difficult task of informing any remaining applicants. We genuinely appreciate your interest in the property and would very much welcome the opportunity to help you find a suitable home in the future. Please do get in touch if we can assist with any other properties we are marketing.

I’ve never been made to feel more like a second class citizen than I have been by Debbie Darvill, lettings DIRECTOR at Sparks Ellison. First she tried to tell me that on both properties I wanted to look at, the landlords’ mortgage lender prohibited tenants with Universal credit.. (which mortgage lenders have been banned from doing for at least the last 5 years and any mortgages longer than that would have been automatically changed). Surely being a Director of lettings with years and years of experience, she would know that. I challenged this piece of information, only to then be told… “It’s these particular landlords prerogative to immediately discount people with benefits”!!!! Yes, landlords can chose their tenants, but it is against the law to immediately discount someone based on being in receipt of benefits. Again, I find it very bold that someone with such a distinguished career, can openly say that their clients are biased and openly discriminatory!!!!!! I guess Sparks Ellison just have a blanket policy of no benefits….. Next year I will be in a position to buy a property…. NOT FROM SPARKS ELLISON!!!

Hi Katy, I’m sorry that you have felt the need to post this review and troubled to hear that this has been your experience. Sparks Ellison certainly don’t have any such policy with regards to benefits. I understand that one of the properties you enquired about had already been let. Could you please contact Mark Ellison on 02380 255333, from tomorrow, in order that I can discuss this further with you and look into what has happened? Thank you.
