If I could give 0 stars I would. We sold our house through Alexander as a house we wanted was for sale with them so felt it was easier. Everything was fine at the beginning but once it was on the market and we had like 3 viewings, there was no interest in selling it. One person viewed ours and wanted it but had to sell their house still but to Alexander that meant 'someone wants it, let's not bother anymore'. During the pandemic, our house sale fell through yet we didn't find out through our own agents who were Alexander. We had a weekly courtesy call from the estate agents we were buying through but not a peep from Alexander, the estate agents we are paying. When we resold, we complained so suddenly they took an interest for about 5 minutes. When we exchanged contracts and were agreeing move dates, I was doing all the leg work and heard absolutely nothing from Alexander. Since talking with others, I have not heard anyone with one good thing to say about this company. I can't believe I had to pay them nearly £4000 yet the other estate agents helped me and kept in contact with me far more. This is only a snippet of the issues we had so you can only imagine how stressful our move was. An embarrassment of a company, please don't ever waste your time or money.
I would avoid going with this agent at all costs. They do not honour what was previously discussed/promised and are very unhelpful when you need answers. Use any other agent possible.
My partner & I dealt with Alexander & Co, who seemed to be very helpful and positive to start with. We were accommodating and very flexible to view a property that was a 2 hour round trip from where we lived, as were looking to relocate. We arrived in good time to the viewing, was shown around and were very pleased with what we saw. The property was advertised online as 1 small pet allowed - which we had a small dog and was assured by the agent showing us around that this would be fine with the landlord, as they had pets with previous tenants. We put in an offer very quickly after this, and ensured all relevant documentation and information was given to Alexander & Co. Things then took a drastic turn, as we were told our offer/application was being rejected by the landlord due to us having a small dog, which he wasn't considering for this property. On top of this, we were then told the landlord is ideally looking to sell the property (through a different estate agency), despite Alexander & Co. saying that the landlord is looking for long-term let.. "the longer the better" ... was told to us during our viewing Whether the landlord was playing the agencies against each other, or Alexander & Co. had entirely missed the mark on their information, or tried to cover up on behalf of the landlord, it doesn't look good on any parties involved. Be wary when dealing with them.
If you are a tenant, do not go to Alexander & co. A horrible agency that cares only Of landlords and how to make them richer, but it cares nothing about tenants and actually humiliates them and treats them like dirty rubbish. Now I have bought a house, but should I move, I will never ever ask to Alexander & co.
Any company that is linked with Bannisters is a company you should never use. Any good reviews are because the staff were made to do them. You have been warned. Don't moan when they let themselves into your home without permission. My wife was in bed once and luckily the latch was on as they tried to enter. I warned them that I would call the police if it happened again. It did!
If this is how they treat the tenants.... imagine how they treat their staff !!
Have used this agency for many years under its different names to rent our house out. It has been a struggle and communication has gone through peaks and troughs. Have just found out that they gave permission for a neighbour to build and alter the boundary of the property without even talking to us. It’s fortunate that the neighbours seem civil people who are now planning on putting the garden right. I can’t recommend them to landlords. They previously allowed the house to get in to a really rundown state telling us it was in good condition when it wasn’t. So, landlords and tenants be a little wary. And be aware that if you think the landlord is being arrogant it is possible that they just aren’t being told what’s going on.
Loathed to even give one star, wish there were minus stars to select. Obviously over inflated fees ahead of the change in the law. Very rude or at best abrupt staff when any disagreement happens. If you must deal with them get everything in writing as verbal agreements may later be denied. Plenty of other letting agents in Bicester to use.
I am literally disgusted at the treatment my family have recieved renting a property from your company specifically Aylesbury branch. They basically insulted us by saying we left the property smelling of dog. We have followed the contract and had the place deep cleaned (end of tenancy) dry cleaned the curtains. Repainted a room with silk paint instead of the emulsion that was previously there. We fitted new fire alarms. Fixed the shower door filled several holes in the walls that were there when we moved in (pictures as proof) but the letting manger at Aylesbury said WE left holes in the walls. When we got served our notice to leave out of the blue lettings management was so rude when we told them we had to stay there until they served us a court notice which we were told to do. As if we didn't feel bad enough but unfortunately we can't make two children homeless because we feel bad. If the "smell of dog" was going to cause a problem, why allow a dog in the property? Our dog smelling of dog is not our fault. I find it strange there's such a strong smell of dog even though everyone else can only smell fresh paint. When we asked where's our deposit or have you even heard anything my husband was met with no answers. Alexander and co are very blase with such large amounts of money needed for two children because we're now out of pocket.
Disgraceful company. Rented a property from them for 4.5 years. They told me I owed rent which I argued but paid anyway (stupid I know) now they’ve decided I overpaid rent but they’re going to deduct some of what they owe me due to a debt on the meter which occurred after I left the property and after I had closed my EDF account. Even with proof they are still trying to hold on to money which is rightfully and legally mine. Not only that my children and I were made to live in an incredibly damp flat which I complained about for 4 years, my stuff turned mouldy, even the bathroom lino ....they eventually listened and sent someone to check. A bad leak was subsequently found under the bath which had caused all the damage. Even now they are trying to withhold £290 of my deposit for “damp damage” which they ignored for years. It’s currently in dispute with the deposit company. NEVER EVER RENT FROM THEM
