Myself and partner went to view property last week first time using Northwood (Definitely be the last) we arrived at the property no agent there we waiting for over 10mins when the agent did show she didn't introduce herself if it wasn't for the Northwood car that she was driving we wouldn't have known who she was,, she walked right past like we didn't existing she entered the property where there was someone coming out of the property that just viewed it without agent been presented which I thought every strange , so we followed her into the property we are there was another couple along with ourselves viewing the property as we entered she just left us to wander around the property without even saying anything about the property she had her phone in her hand all the time and that's all that she was really seemed concerned about we were asking her questions and trying to have a laugh and joke but she wasn't having any of it and then we was told that tenat of the property was in the property while we was having a look at which I felt a little bit uncomfortable I have viewed lots of properties in the past and this is never been the case, overall we felt uncomfortable and very unhelpful by this agent we will not be using Northwood in the future due to this ..

I would avoid Northwood at all costs. As a landlord I am appalled at how Northwood in Aberdeen treat both landlords and tenants. I had tenants move into a flat 3 years ago who reported a issue on day one, it took Northwood 2 weeks to bring it to my attention. The same tenants brought to the attention of Northwood another issue in October last year it was brought to my attention on 23rd of January this year. Only when the tenant threatened to move out did Northwood decided to alert myself. As has always been the case once brought to my attention I rectified the issue very quickly however my tenants were left with NO hot water for 4 months through a cold Scottish winter. This is an absolute disgrace. Like indicated by some of the other reviews Northwood tend to send emails at the end of a day leaving tenants and landlords unable to do anything until the following day. This often happens on a Friday where you can’t do anything until the following Monday. Despite practically begging for a phone call if anything comes up Northwood have repeatedly opted to email at the end of a day. Having gone to the property for an annual safety check it was brought to my attention by the tenant that my flat had been flooded from the flat upstairs and have been left with water damage in the property. The tenants had contacted Northwood and had a response from Northwood but no one had ever passed the information to myself. When I asked the tenant when it had happened they showed me email correspondence between the tenant and Northwood and nearly 5 months had gone by since the incident and no one felt it important to pass on so I could put right the damage. I have now been left with no option but to pursue the complaints process, I have had to contact the property ombudsman to escalate this as Northwood Aberdeen seem incapable of doing the right thing. After having potentially the value of my property put at risk and my reputation damaged by Northwoods inadequacy they made quite frankly an insulting offer towards helping fix the issues. The 5 star reviews on here need to be investigated. There are clearly fake accounts (perhaps not all but definitely a few) propping up this score which is still not great. AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Pretty poor agent, the representative we met at our viewing was clearly not interested- no greeting as we knocked at the door, no tour or explanation of sockets/storage/location, etc....she was more interested in her phone! One of the worst I've came across. Then a lengthy written application has to be completed, to then not to be updated on whether you are successful or not. I had to keep calling this company, 1/10 for professionalism - a school leaver would have done this job miles better.NegativeResponsiveness, Professionalism

Me and a friend used northwood to rent a property for about a year and a half. while our renting experience was fine, in true renting style, northwood charged us for “damages” for pins that were half in walls falling out and ignored our calls and emails for months. Refused to provide us with the invoices for the contractors they claimed had to attend the property. **EDIT POST REPLY** how can we be told to phone the office to discuss the issue when every time i phone (multiple times a week) i get told no one is available or that someone will get back to me and don’t? we have been provided 0 evidence to back up the charges and when i’ve asked for them to be provided i have been IGNORED???

Viewed Walker road flat for rent last week, asked for application form, still nothing through but have had various emails regarding booking a time to view the flat again, agent was not able to answer many questions and asked me to put them in the application form which has yet to be received. No wonder the property has been empty since December.

I have recently used Northwood as a letting agent having no real experience of them prior to this. However, there was a couple of issues during the tenancy e.g. not telling us that a trades men was coming out and tried opening our door while we were inside and when I phoned regarding this I got told they ‘just forgot’. This is only minor compared to the other issues I have experienced. Having terminated my tenancy with a few issues with the land lord to be sorted, I thought this would be resolved quickly and my deposit would be returned quickly minus a small fee. But having tried serval times to contact Rory in the Aberdeen branch, it now appears my calls are being ignored and the phone has been hung up on me while trying to contact them. I recommend that you use someone else’s phone as once the caller Id comes up with your number it seems to assist in vetting the calls they will answer. As it stands I have been trying to organise my deposit, which should be a simple task for nearly a month now with promised emails not being sent and various other communication promised but not delivered. It is only my opinion but given the treatment by Northwood to myself and having read other reviews online I feel you may be better served using a different letting agency that may be more customer focus.NegativeResponsiveness, Professionalism

Terrible organization and customer service. 7 months after I moved in and I am still waiting for them to sign the inventory and for a re-reimbursement due to the flat been unclean when I arrived. During my last inspection the owner of the property turned up (which I wasn't informed would happen) and I got chatting: "So have you had a chance to sign the inventory I made for you and Northwood 6 months ago?" "..No, they haven't told me anything about that." "..Oh, well have they told you about the broken extraction fan I reported 4 months ago?" "..No." I recently got in contact with them to discuss my rent and get it lowered, due to house prices lowering in the area and the poor service I am receiving. 3 weeks later, 5 minutes before they close (the absolute maximum time they are allowed by their policy to respond) I get an email: "I received a message you would like to extend your lease for a fixed term?". It took them all that time to respond to me and they got it completely wrong. Absolute joke. Edit-09/03/2021 Does anyone else find it weird that all of the 5 star reviews are from accounts that have only ever reviewed Northwood? Also, that all of the 5 star reviews specifically name Juliet or Nicola, are they the only people that work there? Almost as if such accounts were fake and created to boost the star rating.

We have no note of any complaint on file in relation to these events described and do have a formal complaints procedure regulated by the property ombudsman for when issues arise. With regards the inventory, there are seven days from the start of the tenancy permitted for any notes, therefore anything submitted in that time frame will be considered. All of our properties are clean to a professional standard and when issues arise at check in it is our policy is to arrange for the professional cleaners to re-attend. With regards maintenance issues we have a maintenance reporting portal so that all issues are logged and tracked to review the action required. With regards to a rent review, often the landlord will enquire as to the duration a tenant wishes to further remain in the property to enable them to make a fully informed decision as to any potential review. We are sorry that we have fallen short of your expectations but will do our utmost to resolve all to your satisfaction should you wish to contact us directly at the office.
