Richard James estate agents, failed to do the most basic checks on the property that I was purchasing, the lease had 26 years missing, advertising that the property had 137 years but only 111 years . The sale fell through as the owners pulled out of the sale. The whole buying process was a nightmare, I was lied to many times and kept getting emails and phone calls stating the I was falling behind with the sale off my current property which wasn’t the case . I was told that we was looking to complete on the 22nd off June and that if this didn’t happen by this date , then it would be in mid July. Again not true , I sold my place and moved back home with my parents thinking it would only be a week or two, But July came and went, I kept asking what’s going on as with the sale . The lady that was dealing with me was on leave and they had no record off the 22nd of June as a moving date , even tho I sent emails back to them showing the conversation, I explained to them that I am now homeless and why can’t the person living in my new place move out like I’ve had too , answer I was given was that , if you own a property then your not proceed able in renting, again more lies anyone can rent a property. The whole buying process was stressful and unpleasant experience, I even told them to leave me alone and stop ringing me and emailing me . Luckily I’ve found another property with Connells estate agent , and the experience is brilliant. So in summary Richard James left me homeless, Nearly two grand out of pocket in solicitors fees Stressed the hell out of me Lied to me many timesNegativeProfessionalism

Still in the process of purchasing. Updates or should I say lack of are horrendous. The agent dealing is on annual leave and no one knows what's going on. I can appreciate its not Richard James who are entirely at fault but get some customer service or keep in the loop with developers to give accurate updates the house was meant to be finished last October and your inaccurate updates are disgraceful. The emails from the agent aren't reassuring and are insensitive, I don't want to hear about there house problems it's irrelevant.

We are so sorry to hear you are unhappy with the customer service you have received. With any new build properties, we are unfortunately at the mercy of the builders regarding completion dates and can only pass on the information we are provided by them. After speaking to Danielle & Jayne, who I believe has been updating you weekly with updates from the developer that we are doing everything we possibly can to get as much accurate information, as we can to get this finalised for all buyers for the site. Poor Estate Agents, would never use them or buy a house using them. Told me they sold a house even though they said I was first to look at the house, then the house went off market and was then put on with a different estate agent. So they never sold it. Just liers and unreliable.

Landlords stay away from this estate agent, they are just after your money,don’t be fooled by their awards!! I contacted Richard James last year to look for a tenant and manage the property for me , they did a very bad job right from the start. Checks wasn’t done properly on the tenant , in the end he wasn’t paying his rent and he had to be evicted. They didn’t check up on the tenant on a regular basis as they promised. As a result the house was left in a very bad state. When it comes to maintenance and repairs, their contractors charge double what you would normally pay to get a job done by a regular handyman. When we try to contact the General manager Alex Hornby to express our concerns, he simply replied that this is not his job, we are taking to the wrong person, what sort of general manager is that !The finance department, needless to say, they are there to make money out of you , not to help you make money on your rental property! Had house on Market in North Swindon & during the process there was bad communication throughout & then after having 3 offers collapse on my property the attitude of a certain person was disgusting & very un professional! Also had people on 3 occasions turn up at my property for viewings without any support from agent. Had to stay through the contract & then changed agent who sold my property straight away & much easier to deal with. The personnel in the North Swindon branch were very disappointing along with the poor attitude! Not something I thought of Richard James having used them twice before without issue! Wont be returning any future business to them!

Travelled 200 miles to view a property, which was booked in 3 days earlier, to be told an hour beforehand that they hadn't received permission from the tenant for the viewing to go ahead. Terrible organisation skills.
