My experience of this company was they treated me with disrespect every time I tried to speak to them and repeatedly hung up on me when trying to speak to them . They are useless

We are sorry you believe we hung up on you, we are currently having issues with our phone system that drops calls for no reason and our service providers cannot find what is causing the fault, Why would we ever just repeatedly hang up on someone ?

Useless. As usual, unless directly lining their pockets, not interested. Despite providing a street number and postcode, was asked if I was interested in a "specific property". Well I'm not interested in Martin's any more. Pathetic.

Another boring anonymous fake review.

I wouldn't deal with this company every again after the lies and being shouted out at over the phone avoid at all costs

Having checked with all our systems we have never encountered Jo Walker, also having spoken to every member of staff no-one recalls any sort of conversation like this therefore this is clearly a spurious review and thsi person has never spoken to our office.

Letting a property through Martin & Co has unfortunately been an unpleasant experience so far. Their communication and customer service skills can improve quite a lot and the other party seems to agree with me. Although friendly for brief interactions, anything that demands more normally results in passiveness and a lack of care for their managed service paying customers. Don't take their word for anything. False promises and a lack of accountability seems normal. Proceed with caution in every step and don't expect the world and you should be okay.

Unfortunately as this is anonymous we can't respond properly as we have no idea what this about or who this is - apart from the fact we have had no complaints from anyone that has any initials K L, so can only assume this is fake or for another branch.

Rented with this estate agents for 4 years and their staff have barely been helpful. I have recieved emails from their own staff calling other staff that they employ and send to your properties as "incompetent at their job". The staff were always different and changing, my landlord has now actually changed estate agents and my new estate agents are having problems with my deposit from Martin and Co's part. I also was told by one of their contractors that their staff was talking about me in their branch in which I then raised a formal complaint and of course heard absolutely nothing back. Wouldn't recommend renting from Martin and Co Shirley's branch specifically.

We had a terrible experience with the check-out process from Martin & Co Solihull. They tried to keep almost the entire deposit by fabricating issues and charging us for damages that were already present on the inventory from before we moved in. They made it so stressful and, after a lengthy back and forth, we did not receive our deposit until 7 months after checkout. Communication was terrible throughout. We provided photographs with date stamps and proof from the inventory that we did not cause the issues. They did not acknowledge any of this and continued to attempt to charge us. We had to use the Deposit Protection Scheme dispute service and eventually received our deposit back. We never received an apology from the letting agents.

We are sorry you have felt this way. Unfotunately we are under a legal obligation to follow the landlords instructions, even when we don't agree with them. If the landlord instructs us to seek a deduction against a deposit we would be breaking our obligations to the landlord. So sometimes we have to carry out instructions we don't agree with because the landlord has instructed us to do so. That is not our choice, but we can then choose whether we continue acting on behalf of that landlord and you will note that we didn't relet this property for the landlord...

Absolutely awful and unhelpfulNegativeResponsiveness

Unfortunately Rachael if a property is not looked after, the landlord is entitled to make a claim against the deposit to rectify the damage, and as an agency we have to follow the instructions given to us by the landlord.

Would definitely not recommend!! Lazy, not helpful and clearly just want your money!! Stay well clear!

Reply from agent

Thankyou for your review but as you never made any form of complaint to us, and as the only fee we charged you was referencing when you moved in four years ago, we are perplexed how you can have come to the view we only want your money and that we are lazy.

The worst estate agents I've dealt with. They take all your deposit even though after going through covid, not missing any payments and having a big hole in the ceiling throughout the winter and they still mess you about. Plz! plz! plz! don't use this estate agents. The land lady was just as bad! Money grabbers. I wish I could share the photos of how I left the house as it was spotless. They even had the cheek to make me pay for brand new carpets to be cleaned that I paid for. I hope you never sell the house!!!!

It is impossible to rob your deposit as it was held in a secure custodial scheme and it had to be proven that the landlord was entitled to the money, so shall we put the facts of the matter straight. After you left the property we were instructed by the Landlord to submit a claim against your deposit to the DPS. This was done and the amount we claimed was awarded to the landlord by the DPS. This means two things 1. The landlord was entitled to the money as they had proved to the DPS that they were 2. We are actually a good agency as we were able to advise the landlord and prepare the claim to the DPS to enable the claim to be successful. ** Then you change your review, once the reply has been posted **
