Working in conjunction with Reeds Solicitors and my ex Wife to rip me off. Bought property from them twice in the past... Never again.

Richard James sold my house quickly and kept in touch until contracts where exchanged then no more communication from them. I had to email to find out where to pick up the keys, I had a very short reply telling me they would be at West Swindon branch. On completion day there were problems and it was impossible to get an answer from Richard James when phoning. Luckily I had a very supportive solicitor and removal firm. When I was able to collect the keys, at 3.15pm, Barrie was more concerned with showing me photos of his holiday on his mobile phone than the stress I had experienced that day. Barrie had also informed me verbally that there could be discount on the fees due to me buying and selling through Richard James. I had emailed Barrie about this previously but he did not reply. When I picked up the keys I asked again and he said he was going to sort it straight away. Barrie gave me a bottle of sparkling wine and a card when I picked up the keys and said I should have had a key ring but he didn't have any. I later received the bill from my solicitor with Richard James fees with no discount. I spoke with my solicitor and he said Barrie had not mentioned any discount. I then opened the card Barrie had given me, to find a Christmas card (at the beginning of October). I took the card and wine back to Barrie the next day and told him it was much too early to receive a Christmas present. I also explained to Barrie that if he had no intention of giving a discount then that was fine but he should never had said he would. I had no apology, actually Barrie thought it was quite funny he had wrote a Christmas card and not a new home card. I found his attitude and service towards me as a customer very upsetting. If dealing with the West Swindon branch ensure you get everything in writing and have a good solicitor as from my experience once they know you have exchanged and they are getting their money they have no interest in you anymore.

Enquired about a property at the weekend received a call Sunday and said I would get in touch on Monday. Having sent an email Sunday evening and called several times yesterday and today and still had no response about my query.NegativeQuality

Absolutely disgusting way in which the West Swindon team operate. Firstly I was unhappy with the photos Barry took of our property. I emailed him straight away but nothing happened and they were published. We sold our house though Richard James twice as it fell through. Both time we were lied to about the buyer. 1st time we was told it was a 1st time buyer, they offered a lot less then we wanted but we accepted as it kept the chain nice, small and simple. It then turned out there was a chain. Not happy at all. The chain fell through the same week as we was going to exchange.. There were a few occasions where viewings were cancelled but we wasnt informed. This ment my wife and 2 year old son were sat out in the car for no reason as the staff dont like you to be in your own home whilst they do viewings. As Cameron mentioned and made my wife feel awkward! Second time round they did find us a buyer alot quicker this time but again was lied to. We was told it was a chain of 2 people, that already had mortgage offers so sounded as though the chain was advancing quickly. Yet again it turns out we were lied to. The chain was bigger and our buyer didnt have a mortgage offer. We know this as it took then them months to get one! for that reason our mortgage offer expired and covid hit so ment we had to pull out. Alot of time and money wasted and we are no further forward a year on! Its true. Never trust an estate agent.

Unfortunately the absolute worst estate agent I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Throughout the whole after sales process we were fobbed off, calls were never returned, no one in the office seemed to know what was happening with our sale and when we were ready to exchange, found out that our buyer who was supposed to be chain free had lied to us and there were two further links in the chain. This caused a lot of stress and we nearly lost our purchase. The agent we dealt with in that office even admitted he hadn't done his job properly. I can only stress DO NOT USE THIS AGENT!
