I purchased a property via Jeremy McGinn & Co late 2015. I can honestly say the service from start to finish was superb. I'd thoroughly recommend.

Appalling experience with John Shepherd. After 6 years of loyalty, they have committed gross professional negligence by authorized an early tenant move-out without my consent, breaking a fixed-term contract. Most alarmingly, they have taken unauthorized deductions from my rent account (increasing fees by 2% without a signed agreement). They are also currently ignoring a formal complaint. Absolute lack of integrity and professional standards. Avoid at all costs. UPDATE (March 4th): In response to the agency's comment below: I have already escalated this directly to your CEO and Property Management Director. As your agency has admitted professional negligence and performed unauthorized deductions from my client account, I have set a final deadline of 12:00 PM tomorrow for a written settlement. If this is not met, I will be proceeding with formal filings to The Property Ombudsman and Propertymark. I am awaiting a professional resolution, not a generic redirect.

I would never rent again from these scam artists. They will take your deposit and run, and come up with any excuse for the reason. Never, ever rent from these please! Save your money and take it else where!!!!!

Honestly probably one of the worst rental experiences I’ve ever had, rented with John Shepherd with my partner from October 2020 - April 2023 throughout this time we had numerous “property managers” who constantly palmed problems off onto one another. We had so many issues with the house dating back to Jan 2021 which included horrendous rising damp in the kitchen which then lead to black mould throughout, the tiles in the kitchen were constantly cracking due to water underneath them, we had water drenching the carpet around the entry to the kitchen due to a massive dip in the concrete underneath. I logged these issues in Jan 2021 and when we left in April 2023 these issues were still ongoing. Lauren Foster who quite frankly is the rudest estate agent I’ve ever dealt with told us that it was our fault that is was damp due to us not heating the property 24/7 which is just laughable considering the price of energy at the moment oh and we didn’t ventilate enough even though our bathroom window was always open to try and dry the constantly horrible wet damp bathroom out. If she’d of had it her way we should have had the heating on full whack and all the windows open in the middle of a cost of living crisis. When we left they then tried to charge us £350 for redecoration which was honestly ridiculous considering the decoration in the house was absolutely fine bar a few general wear and tear scuffs which the landlord should expect to incur when you rent a property out it’s like they expected it back like a show house… I’d like to add as well the house was not clean when we moved in especially the kitchen which was filthy. They also tried to charge us £18 for one light bulb and a shower curtain when leaving… I honestly couldn’t believe it where on earth are they plucking these prices from!? we had to go through a dispute with reposit which worked in our favour in the end however the whole situation was just a complete an utter farce. The way Lauren dealt with everything was a joke I constantly had to chase for updates and the emails I received from here were rude and unprofessional I will never use them again and am so thankful to finally be rid of the whole situation.
