Apart from all the things that estate agents are *supposed* to do as part of the process, (which Robson's did extremely well.) Scott at Robsons in Pinner pretty much saved our house sale and onward purchase from slipping into complete oblivion (owing to a very slow moving upper chain and completely lethargic estate agents and upper chain solicitors), he did this by a lot of phoning, detective work and glueing together the various parties to finally make the transactions happen. Work, I should add, that he didn't have to actually undertake. Absolute 100% recommendation from me.
