Dear Mr Mafooz, I have responded to your allegations directly, in the interests of balance I reproduce an extract here. We sell properties nationwide and in some instances use a third party to conduct viewings. In this case, the person who showed you the house also provided the photos and floor plans used in our marketing. This was a probate sale. As auctioneers, our involvement is usually at the point of sale, we are not party to the circumstances surrounding the deceased’s death or their personal circumstances prior to listing a property for sale. If we are told an individual died in a property, or are made aware that is the case after marketing has commenced we would not withhold such information or lie about it. We completely reject your accusation that we lied to you in this regard. There was a huge amount of interest in this property prior to auction. I reject your accusation we lied to you to maintain your interest and to attempt to keep you interested as a buyer. Our records show that you made 13 bids during the auction, there were 3 other parties bidders who tried to buy the house yet you kept out-bidding them. Your first bid was £29,500, your last bid was £49,000. At no point did we coerce you to bid, nor did we lie to you. We had no reason to try to maintain your interest, the house would have sold to another party had you never engaged with the auction. I am sorry you believe you have not been dealt with fairly but in this instance I cannot agree that we have done anything to misrepresent the property or disadvantage you in any way. I have invited you, on more than one occasion to pursue the matter via The Property Ombudsman Scheme of which we are a member. I do not believe you have done so.
