The people who do viewings I've never had an issue with (they get them their money!) However, the people in the office (with the exception of 1 or 2) are extremely rude.

Very poor service, they pick and choose clients please be aware especially if renting. Would not recomend very rude..

We had terrible experiences with Bentons. We got the impression that they are rude and they pick and choose buyers. In order to buy a property from Bentons, having the funds is not enough, there are other mysterious criteria that we are yet to find out. We rang them after first viewing to say we want to make an offer, please speak to the vendor about a few changes we wish to discuss with them. Then.....nothing.... no reply. Are the vendors still considering it a month later? Now we just have to assume that the vendors do not wish to sell to us.... Now I avoid properties advertised by Bentons.

Saw a lovely house to let and paid the fees straight away, only to wait two weeks and still no decision whether we have been accepted or not. Then found out through a friend who also saw the house that they were still accepting viewings. I can only assume that they have done the same to other and taken more fees off them as well. This seems like a scam to me!

I went to view a couple of their properties. Arranging this was easy enough and everything appeared fine until I actually liked one of the properties and asked the agent to please forward me the tenancy agreement to look over before solidifying things. The estate agent not only refused to let us look at the contract through any means but did this in a rather unprofessional and rude manner, suggesting that we were attempting to steal it and being unreasonable somehow. Please note that we even offered to look at it in her office under supervision. Potential Tenants: DO NOT rent from anywhere which does not let you have a look at the tenancy agreement before paying some amount of money. In this case she was demanding that we first pay 70 pounds each for referencing checks before letting us see it supervised and in her office, to sign it. This is completely unacceptable and I am surprised such a policy is legal. I dread to think what is in the draft contract.
