Avoid. Terrible experience trying to let a property through chancellors. Ongoing issues with poor customer service, rude agents who refuse to reply to emails or return calls. Awful experience trying to go through Canopy referencing who draw out the process disputing irrelevant minutiae, finally approved only to have to repeatedly chase a contract which was initially sent after days of chasing with incorrect information. Currently facing potentially having no where to live in 3 weeks and Chancellors are not willing to engage with us. Unable to contact a manager to escalate the issue or speak with anyone who is able to advise the current position of the tenancy. Very willing to take £346 holding fee but not prepared to treat customers with any respect.
My neighbour's four bedroom detached house has been listed by Chancellors as a three bedroom semi-detached house! The floor plan shows two bedrooms desinated as bedroom 3. And the number of bathrooms is wrong. They were told about this last Friday and nothing has been done about it. Hopeless.

We had the worst experience ever with bracknel branch chancellors . We finalised on a property to rent at royal winchester bracknel without even visiting , just agreed on it looking at the vedio of the flat. We went through the whole process of creating the rent passport , providing all that million documentation from our side which had a full details of us , then we had to provide a uk home owner as guarantor. We finally managed to get that as well , & then they started scrutinising the guarantor for all income details & everything. After a month of doing whole process they got back telling that guarantor details doesn’t pass the owner’s requirements & hence owner declined to rent the property to us , even though our details matched the criteria of tenant eligibility. Worst part was they took out card details telling that nothing will be deducted unless you move in , & when the whole process did not get through they have deducted close to 300 £ , without even informing us . When we try to get in touch , MS Danielle has conveniently ignored our constant calls & emails from 2 days . We have been in Uk for 4 years & right now we are in 4th house & this is the first worst experience we have had . Looks like the whole thing was a scam to take money out of us for nothing. Looks like a big scam agents these are trying to make money out of us by asking for unnecessary details & then rejecting the offer . I would never recommend & please be aware of these chancellors.
DO NOT USE.... Chancellors valued my property way higher than it is worth to win business. Do not fall for the same mistake I did... they have lots of market presence but notice that 95% are for sale and not sold. They tie you in to a long sole agency contract and just ask you to reduce.. sometimes twice in the space of one week!!! My property was on the market in June and they have not had one viewing. When out of contract, they tried to claim if I go with another agent, be sure of who their introduced buyers are. By 'Introduced', they classify this as someone spoken to about your property and not necessarily actually been out to view. Based on this I was expecting at least 100 people being in the profession myself. When withdrawn the list of 'spoken to / emailed to' buyers was no more than 30. They claim to be a good agent and use neighboring offices to play to their advantage however clearly this had not been done due to the few people spoken to despite being on market for 3 months. Leads were missed and or not called until the next day. Not a proactive agent and only interested in the money-earners. I moved into a flat recently and chancellors lied to me about a number of things, my flat is £750 a month plus bills. They said there was heating and gas connected and they lied, multiple times in writing, they also forgot to write in tenancy that they gave my neighbours upstairs a key to my property to access my flat whilst I'm out, they lied about this over and over again until the neighbours actually locked me in my own flat because they 'arent comfortable with my background and me being on benefits' (one of the male students was caught peering through my window as I changed and weirdly chancellors have tricked me and caused me to be completely suicidal due to what they have done to me, I got this place in seek of refuge and chancellors EXPLOITED me.
We had a viewing booked on a property in chalgrove 2 weeks ago - we had arranged childcare and were on our way to the viewing to then receive a phone call from the branch saying the viewing was cancelled as the property was already under offer and had been for over 2 weeks - when I asked why they accepted our viewing request they couldn’t give me an answer. Over the next couple of days I phoned up multiple times about visiting other properties they were listing, and was always told “I’ll get someone to call you back”. Never heard anything. Would absolutely avoid this estate agency. Totally unreliable and unprofessional and wasted lots of our time. Luckily we’ve found a gorgeous new home with another agency
Poor service from estate agents who do not bother to arrange viewings and when you get to finally speak to one, they're quite rude on the phone. I do not recommend.
The worst experience I ever had!!!! I view the flat, had to travel all the way there to check, but I was happy because I liked it. I said that I will take it, I spent 4 days filling different forms, making “rent passport”, going through the checks and only when I started to ask how my application is going they said that someone else rented. Really?? I refused going for another viewings, I refused applying for other flats that I saw from another agencies!!! I would never ever recommend this place!!!!
My review is specific to the lightwater branch. Bad mannered, unprofessional and incompetent are the words I would use to describe the staff. They found me buyers back in June who have still not signed their contracts along with the buyer at the bottom of the chain. There are 4 others in the chain above and we have all signed and are ready to exchange contracts. The managers have not replied to the last 2 emails I sent asking them to get this resolved. The whole process since signing up with them has been far from satisfactory. Wrong price on the house, wrong details and a complete disregard for me as a customer. The manager, in particular, seems to think it is beneath her to deal with customers once they have signed up. I have never dealt with a company before who refuse to answer emails from their customers. My job involved dealing with estate agents and in 15 years I never came across behaviour like this. I wish I never signed up with them.
