Frustrated is an underestimation. After speaking to 4 people at the Wokingham Branch, sending in emails as well as being assured a manager would contact me, nothing.......Will definitely not get any of our business whether buying or selling. No customer service!
A horrid experience. This letting agent are not responding to us when we request our security deposit back. The landlord has even said they don’t want to claim any of it from end of tenancy report. Chancellors Richmond upon Thames are scummy
As a potential buyer, I can definitely state that the experience dealing with Chancellors Lightwater has been horrendous - we are involved with many different estate agencies as part of our House search and we've never been even close to such a low level of customer relationship. * A property visit booked and noone shows up for it - thank you we live 30 min drive away. * Another visit booked and agent is 15 min late - barely any apologies. * Not using email communications despite repeated requests to do so (too busy at work to answer every estate agent phone call). * Keep calling on the phone and leaving messages / email as "do urgently need to speak to you" while there is nothing urgent. * Can not make an offer without solicitor details - which is non-standard. Says it's because of "id checks" that are not needed anywhere else / shouldn't need a solicitor. * Tries to force-sell own solicitor service. * System doesn't let them book an offer without solicitor details.
Worst estate agent ever!! Please avoid this firm at all cost!! They got my business by overpricing the value of my property at £800K and signed me to a 6 month contract that I can’t get out off and within the space of 3 months they pressured me into reducing the property price to £650K. Recently I’ve been asked to further reduce the property price to £625K. How can an estate agent reduce a property price that they valued nearly £200K off their valuation figure? They are obviously very inexperienced cowboys that are only interested in getting their commission whilst selling extra services. And as for their contract, I signed it on the 2nd of May 2023 and on the 2nd of September, I’ve given my notice to come out of their 6 months contract and now they are telling me that I can’t come out of their contract until 27th of October, which is nearly 7 months! And if I do I will need to pay for their services i.e photos and advertising fees etc.. As for the viewings, there were only total of 10 viewings. 3 of them was produced on the back of one of the estate agent- his own words. And recently I just came across one of the viewers that wanted to view my property even made a complaint about how it was difficult to book viewings with them and how they never showed up.I’m guessing these negative factors play a massive part in getting a sale. Obviously there is the crisis with the interest rates but speaking to other estate agents that are local to me state that there are still buyers out there and I’m guessing Chancellors are scaring them away. Finally I did complain to Holy about their very poor customer service but she wasn’t interested. not even allowing me to at least come out of their contract and instead actually told me more photos needed to be taken to even trying her luck to get me to sign another 6 months contract with them! I mean what a joke…honestly. I’m stressed because of these people. Now, take my advice and stay clear of these people.
The worst company, impolite, slow, unorganised and not helpful. Avoid them.
Really poor service as a landlord - Chancellors Aylesbury and Thameside As a landlord the service we have received is shocking. We are regularly handed to poorly skilled staff at Thameside, who do not follow up and cases are then passed over to other people and you need to begin again. Very slow response and even complaints are not followed up. In the current instance we have been waiting for a claim to be resolved since mid May and as a landlord we are having to do all the chasing of chancellors to resolve and we have very little confidence of any resolution. Request for escallation/ complaints procedures have been ignored and deadlines missed. I would suggest any landlord considers alternative companies to manage your portfolio. Their incompetence has cost me thousands .
To start on a high, the estate agent actually was very helpful. Answered any questions I had and was very kind. The issues started with communication. I was given a sales progressor who failed to give thorough updates and when they did, they were weeks after my solicitor gave me one. When I communicated this to them, they got very defensive, deflected and I was passed onto another sales progressor. No accountability taken. Again, same happened with the new progressor, slow/no updates, but I just cracked on and waited (almost pulled out at this point as I was now on the 5th month of waiting and the thought of them gaining commission on such an awful service really annoyed me). Completion day then came around, a day that is supposed to be so exciting and luckily was but only due to the people I was with. CHANCELLORS DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WHO I WAS OR THAT I WAS THERE TO COLLECT THE KEYS. They didn't even know about the property even though it was their listing! They turned me away and I had to wait 6 hours until my solicitor gave me the go ahead to try and collect the keys again. I came back and was pretty annoyed (rightly so) and the person who gave me the keys tried to justify the situation by telling me how bad their experience was when they first bought a property?! I literally couldn't be arsed at that point. When I finally did collect the keys, someone was still vacant in the property! Luckily they were very kind but I didn't think it was very appropriate.
Most of their properties listed on right move have already been sold. So when you phone up to enquire about it it's an utterly pointless conversation. They will tell you the reason for this is their policy is to continue to market the property until exchange of contracts should the sale fall through. No other estate agents I know of does this. I think the real reason is so that when you phone in to enquire about a property that's been sold this then gives them a sales lead.
Although these estate agents are notorious for over-pricing their inventory and leaving houses for sale on zoopla for 6 months even though they are SSTC, we wade an offer on a house. They never had the courtesty to even call us back with a reply. We assumed that the offer wasnt accepted by the vendor, but still, we missed out on a house purely because the staff couldnt be bothered to treat us with respect. Staff never call you back and are shady with their information,. (apart from 1 or 2 select few: Matt has always been professional) Apart from that, stay away especially if you are a buyer.
