Me and my wife used these Letting agents , back in March 2020 , we were with them for 5 years ! , at first they were as nice as pie, couldn’t do enough for you , like always with all agents , but as tine went on trying them to get you to do anything you had requested on there maintenance job site , was like pulling teeth , awful , they would come around , be dis respectful , rude , and full of lies , the landlord was disrespectful , would not do anything , about damp etc in the property and Even when we had a newborn 👶 , couldn’t give a shit ! , they are only interested in one thing ! The money 💰 , no Health and safety respect ! But I take my hat off tho Sue Wilson , very good and professional , I would advise , stay well away from these agents ! They are liars , and bloody thieves and by the way . They are Landlord was a Mr David King , lives in London !! To the owner - Liz , please feel free to ring me or email me to discuss this review and I will think about taking it down , there should have been more communication from u and the team in the first place ,
Dealing with Martin & Co is completely fine. They are professional, courteous and generally nice people. The problem arises because they act as a middle man between client and landlord, you don't even get the landlord's phone number, which is understandable. I viewed a property which looked fairly smart. When I moved in however, the landlord had touched up various bits of paintwork which is an entirely different shade to the original and now looks very patchy. There was also a throw covering a giant hole in one of the couches, the other couch was fairly worn and the springs had gone meaning sitting on it was massively uncomfortable. Yet they delivered only one sofa which, again, was a completely different shade to the other sofa. It looks completely ridiculous. The landlord is quite possibly the tightest alive. If there was a bit of give and take I would of painted the property properly, but investing my own money and effort into a "furnished" property when you are delivered a couch a completely different colour to the other is simply overkill. I've given up complaining and simply going to see out my tenancy. Although this is not Martin & Co's fault directly, because of the way they are set up they simply MUST shoulder some of the blame. I cannot wait to move out and I've only been a tenant for 3 weeks. I think it's hit and miss depending on which landlord you get and your willingness to be on the phone constantly to complain and argue your point. I would like to reiterate that they do try and help you out wherever they can and the problems do lie with the landlord.
Very disappointed with the service from this estate agent. It's been three weeks since I moved out, and I still haven't received an exit email or any update about my deposit. …
I had a disgusting experience with this estate agent. The flat was in a disgraceful condition when I moved in. It was covered in black mould, with used condoms and other rubbish littered across the floor. Despite being assured before my arrival that the property would be professionally cleaned, this was simply not true. Just six weeks after moving in, I was forced to leave the property after the landlord’s mortgage issues resulted in the property being repossessed via the county court. I was left scrambling to find emergency accommodation in a city that was completely new to me. It later became clear that the previous tenant had also been evicted from the same property, yet the agency still chose to rent it out again while the landlord had not been paying the mortgage. They also allowed this landlord to steal my full security deposit as they did not assure it was protected under a government scheme which is a legal requirement. Throughout the entire ordeal, the agency offered no meaningful support, and instead hung me out to dry by accepting no responsibility, and instead denied any wrongdoing or liability. Would strong advise anyone to look elsewhere rather than using this agency.
Eviction notice within first month of renting: Terrible experience. Within one month of moving into a property rented through Martin & Co, I received eviction notices saying bailiffs would be attending because the landlord had not been paying the mortgage. I was told I had to leave within days. I later found letters in the property that were dated before my tenancy began and related to the possession proceedings, which suggests the agent should have been aware there were serious issues before I moved in. Martin & Co have comically denied any wrongdoing and refused to offer any compensation despite the significant stress, disruption, and extra moving costs this caused. I would not recommend them.
Martin and co manage the property next door to mine which is noisy and overcrowded- noise from the house including slamming doors, shouting and taxis coming and going at all hours upsets both myself and other neighbours on the street. I have complained to Martin and co numerous times but they have failed to deal with the issue.
