Dreadful. Tried calling the Lettings team at Dover, all afternoon. Left messages for call back. No Calls. Dover Sales said all Lettings were from Folkestone. 'Phoned Folkestone. They said there are no lettings Offices and all run from Head Office which the public can't call. Then discovered it's all done from Home Working which is why the Lettings numbers don't respond. Tried E Mailing. No response. These people are truly dreadful.

Dear Graham, Thank you for your review. We’re very sorry to hear that your experience did not reflect the level of service we aim to provide. We have spoken this morning and confirmed that we do have lettings offices located in many towns and we do not have any lettings staff working from home. However you have experienced issues communicating with us, which we have taken seriously and will address. We do hope we will be able to help you in future. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention. Kind regards, Miles and Barr.

Unfortunately, I had a really bad experience buying my first home with my partner. To begin with, for all the viewings we did with Miles & Barr, the estate agents seemed to know absolutely nothing about the properties except what was on the listing. No information about previous works carried out, age of electrics or boiler, etc. They did offer to contact the vendors with any questions we had but we travelled well over 2 hours for the viewings and it was disappointing that they didn't have this information already - surely we aren't the only buyers asking. We put an offer in for a property which was listed as CHAIN FREE - the first words on the listing. Once our offer was accepted (which ended up being another whole back and forth - apparently the vendor had already communicated a minimum she would accept and yet M&B let us offer lower than this which was obviously rejected), the following day we received a call from our sales progressor informing us that the vendor was looking for a property to purchase and port the mortgage over to. Excuse me, what? The property was listed as chain free. Now, M&B claim that they knew absolutely nothing about the vendors intentions to port the mortgage however also told us she'd been looking since November 2023 - 2 months before we'd even viewed the property. Additionally, it is your responsibility as the estate agents to be absolutely certain of the intentions of both vendor and buyer. The time in between our offer being accepted and completion on the property was, in my opinion, inexcusably long, considering we were chain free first time buyers who had had an offer accepted on a supposedly chain free property. At one point, the vendor even threatened to put the property back on the rental market - all because she couldn't find a house she wanted to buy! We didn't receive any support from our sales progressor and felt that they allowed the ball to be in the vendor's court. After several months of waiting for her to port her mortgage and only having a few weeks left on our rental lease, we said we would pull out if she hadn't found a house by a certain date. Suddenly, she'd had an offer accepted and was ready to proceed. Also, she discovered she wasn't actually able to port her mortgage (probably because the house we purchased was an ex-rental and she was purchasing a residential home) so was suddenly in a rush to complete so she could move forward with her own purchase. Why did M&B not tell her that she couldn't port a buy to let mortgage to a residential property? This is basic knowledge and led to months and months of delays for us, plus a few weeks of homelessness once our lease ended. Not that M&B cared when we told them, of course - they attempted to empathise by reminding me that they wouldn't get paid until the property sold, so they wanted it to complete too. We finally bought and moved into the property (being met with a whole host of issues from the house being empty for a year, of course), and on move-in day, our keys were handed to us in a plain white envelope along with a keyring with a fat joke on it. Thanks! Not quite the celebratory start to the day we were hoping for. In general, I would personally avoid buying and selling through Miles and Barr at all costs in the future, and hope that I do not have to deal with them any further. Very disappointing as so many people have great things to say about them, but I feel that I spoke to every single person in that office and had a terrible service with every one. Yes, the vendor was tricky, but M&B didn't help the situation at all.

Would not recommend as I had to do a lot of chasing myself for the sale of my property to go through. Was not the best experience. I should add that I was initially lied to by the director who stated that we were only able to sell solely through them and not through any other estate agents-he took advantage of the fact that we were in a rush to put our property on the market. We were further mislead to believe that there were more staff available to push the sale through quickly-again this was not the case. I was advised to advertise my house much lower than what it was valued at to attract buyers and through an open house and to get them bidding- I accepted a much lower offer to the value of the property as the buyer was ready to move in quickly. The sales progressor was nowhere to be seen towards the final stages. Due to the fact that my solicitors were great I dealt with them directly to agree exchange and completion. Miles & Barr also put up a lot of resistance when I wanted to put my property back on the market, as I felt the sale wasn't progressing as quickly at one point, and wanted to achieve a price closer to its valuation. All they were interested in was getting their fee as soon as possible.

Hello, Thank you for your feedback. At Miles and Barr, we always aim to provide a smooth and professional experience for all our clients. We have carefully reviewed the details of your sale, and we are confident that we acted in line with our commitment to fairness, transparency, and efficiency. Throughout the process, we worked diligently to achieve the best possible outcome for you, and we are proud of the progress made within a challenging market. Within just 11 days of marketing, we were able to secure multiple offers. The offer you accepted was significantly above the asking price, which we believe reflects the efforts and dedication of our team in achieving a favourable outcome for you. Regarding the additional matter that was raised during your experience with us, after thorough investigation, we were unable to accommodate the request in question as it did not align with our professional obligations. We understand this may have been disappointing, but we remain committed to upholding our ethical standards. We regret that your experience did not fully meet your expectations and appreciate the opportunity to have worked with you. We wish you all the best for the future. Kind regards, Miles and Barr

Extremely poor service and communication from start to finish. Even though our contract ended 3 weeks ago. I have not had any confirmation of this. The “for sale” board is still up and we are still on rightmove ! If staff do answer the phone they are full of apologies and excuses. Promised that same agent would show people round and would make themselves familiar with the house as it is large. We have had x3 viewings in x4 months. First viewing was agent who was our designated person. Second viewing a different agent who appeared x5 mins before viewing and asked me to show him round so he could show potential buyer who was waiting outside and third viewing I was asked to show person round as agents busy. Would definitely not use again and would definitely not recommend.

64 Lawrence court- Denis Andrews I was banned from using miles and Barr because of rent arrears but the property was full of cockroaches ( they live behind the boiler in the bathroom) and miles and Barr told me that I'm lying! You shouldn't rent properties full of pests. Withholding my deposit and ignoring emails

The worst agency in all Kent. I tried to sell my house with them, but that was the worst decision ever! They held me for a year, and basically I had to constantly chasing them to do anything, they have ignored my calls, constantly lies, not pick up from me. Staff is arrogant and rude, Ollie was the worst. Poor communication, no interest of the client as soon as contact was signed. when I decided to change agency they displayed my house as sold on their website for another 2 weeks against the law. I decided to change agency for Reeds & Rains and sold the house in 3 months. I do not recommend!!!!!!!! Please avoid.

Rude and unhelpful. They ignore all your emails, and when you ring up, they just hang up on you within 30 seconds - repeatedly. I wrote an email to their head office to raise my concerns and ask what was going on, and never got a response to that either. Unfortunately they make it pretty clear that they couldn't care less about treating potential customers politely and professionally! Thanks a lot Miles & Barr.

Avoid this agent. We were think of listing our property and had appointed a couple of agents to visit. When we notified Miles and Barr that we had chosen another agent their first response was " oh but you still want to view our properties?" Implying it was an issue to do this without listing with them. I didn't realise they were your properties? I thought they were your vendors? This awkward conversation totally vindicated my decision to not use them to buy or sell. Theyre supposed to act in their vendors interests, not in their own interests. Knowing that they could put potential buyers off who wouldn't list with them is not what you should accept, if you're selling your property.
