I bought a house through James Du Pavey Eccleshall. From start to finish I was impressed with the level of service I received as a buyer. Whenever I wasn't getting sense out of the solicitors, I would phone Lottie (or one of her colleagues) and all would be explained, followed up and responded to. Can't than them enough.
Nice and helpful
Excellent all round. First class class customer service. Very good area knowledge and extremely flexible when arranging viewings. Staff very helpful and went the extra mile. Only 3 stars since I went with their conveyancing recommendation, Gent Law, who, to be generous, were absolutely abysmal - Gent Law frustrated the entire process, their communication was awful and unprofessional (knowingly 'misleading' at least 3 times). When I requested to speak to Rachael Gent to raise my concerns, she refused to call me and sent me an aggressive email stating she was not getting in to a "he-said, she-said" debate. Several emails and call requests not responded to by the person responsible for the account, some replies took 3 weeks and were in no way substantive, paid for things I never received, etc. Please avoid Gent Law at all costs. It's hard to understand the contrast between the operation of James du Pavy and Gent Law given their affiliation. If there is an opposite to good customer service - Gent Law get the prize.
Poor communication, don't keep you updated.
Whilst I believe the vendor must take responsibility for the details of the house they are selling I also expect an estate agent to play a lead role in the sale. After 7 months I ended up walking away due to too many outstanding issues and in this instance I blame James du Pavey for not taking control and being the voice of reason. Time and money aside the whole episode has been a shambles and I would think twice before trying to buy another property through this estate agent.
Very disappointed how we were treated with the stone branch with trying to purchase a property. The vendor excepted our offer. We were asked to send in documents to secure the property which we did. Was informed that until we send the documents they couldn’t stop other viewings We sent our information on the Friday due to the bank holiday the estate agents were closed. By Tuesday I rang them to see that they had received my email but they wanting further information from me which wasn’t mentioned in the first email. I felt they were stalling so that these viewings could take place.
Absolute rubbish,no communication what so ever,15 mins to view a £250,000 house is ridiculous.
We purchased a property through James du Pavey. All in all it took 8 months!! First of all we got 3 months into the process and we suddenly found the house was a probate house and hadn’t even been applied for! No one said a word to us.From then on it was like getting blood out of a stone getting any information about what was going on. We were passed to different staff who “ were going to take this deal under their wing” to find what was going on.so after 8 months , £2000 extra spent on renting, storage, extra removals we finally got a completion date and collected the keys to our house. I was asked for ID and they were thrown on the floor! An appalling process from start to finish.NegativeResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism
Rude staff
