Dear Michael, I do apologise that you were not happy with being charged £20 for your keys, however we do recommend on check-in with us, that you get a spare set cut for yourself as we do charge £10 per replacement key as you are given your first set of keys for free. There is a check in and check out report conducted before and after the start of your tenancy, and we do ask you to leave the room in the condition you found it in order to reclaim your full deposit. Our property manager felt that your room was not suitable for a new tenant to move into, therefore a deep clean was conducted. As you are still residing in the property until next year we would not be able to return any deposit to you yet. I can assure you that no member of staff at Martin&Co would ever come to work hungover, and we pride ourselves in being experts of the local area. The staff member who did your viewing, previously lived close to your property so would have a good insight of the local amenities. Two applications were taken on the same day, by different staff, for the property you were hoping to rent. Both applications were presented to the landlord, and unfortunately your application was not successful. You were emailed on the same day to advise you of this and your application fee was refunded straight away.
