I would strongly advise others to think carefully before using Prospect Estate Agents based on my experience. One of the most serious issues I encountered was being left without heating for approximately six weeks during the colder months of the year. Despite repeatedly contacting the agency to report the problem and request updates, communication was extremely poor and I was left chasing responses. Living without heating for such a prolonged period was incredibly stressful and uncomfortable, yet there appeared to be little urgency in resolving the issue. Throughout my dealings with Prospect, I also felt that concerns were handled in an intimidating and dismissive manner. Rather than receiving support and understanding when raising legitimate issues, I was often made to feel like I was being unreasonable for expecting updates or asking for action to be taken. The tone of communication at times felt confrontational rather than helpful, which left me feeling pressured and uncomfortable. The lack of correspondence was a recurring problem throughout my tenancy. Email updates were not proactively provided, and I often had to make multiple attempts to obtain basic information. As a tenant, this left me feeling ignored and unsupported. Being without heating for six weeks, combined with poor communication and what I perceived as bullying and dismissive behaviour, made this a highly negative experience. Prospective tenants should keep written evidence of everything, including emails, maintenance reports, photographs, videos and records of unanswered calls. In my experience, you may need this evidence at the end of the tenancy if deposit deductions are proposed. When I experienced a water leak, the water was turned off and the property developed a horrific smell of damp. I was expected to continue living there despite those conditions. If another tenant finds themselves in a similar situation, I would advise them not only to report it to Prospect in writing but also to seek advice from the council or an independent housing service. I would never recommend Prospect Estate Agents based on my experience. In my dealings with Chloe, I felt that the landlord’s interests were consistently prioritised while my concerns as a tenant were dismissed. I have an email stating that the agency works for the landlord rather than the tenant. Regardless of whom the agency represents, tenants are still entitled to have serious property issues managed promptly, communicated clearly and handled respectfully. I found the approach intimidating and felt bullied when trying to obtain action on legitimate concerns. Future tenants should protect themselves by keeping comprehensive records and should not hesitate to seek independent support if they are left without essential services or feel that their concerns are being ignored.
