We recently sold our home with Michael Anthony and whilst they weren't terrible we agreed we probably wouldn't use them again, mainly for three reasons: Firstly uploading the wrong EPC to our house listing (coincidentally for our friend's house across town) and not correcting it when pointing it out twice. It wasn't corrected for weeks in the end, even after they said they would fix it. Secondly when I called and left a message (sales never around, always had to leave messages with lettings) that our offer has been accepted on onward property this wasn't passed onto our buyer so they understandably held off getting searches done. Finally found out they still weren't aware when I called 3 weeks later to find out cause of delay and had to get quite involved sorting it out. Which considering they also had contact from the estate agent of the house we're buying to confirm our chain was frustrating as they obviously didn't follow that up either to confirm chain was now complete. Finally, related, it seemed like they hadn't fully done their checks on the chain below, as both EAs of the houses we offered on had to do extra checks to reassure themselves and commented that Michael Anthony couldn't assure them they'd seen evidence of certain things. Which might have been standard but both made a point of saying that which seemed odd. We had a much better experience when we bought the house through them 5 years ago and to be fair found Kristina particularly helpful at the end, but it was frustrating feeling like we'd been treated better as buyers rather than sellers, given we were paying their commission as sellers this time round.
This property company has some staff that are very rude, unorganised and also liars. Make sure you keep communication with them on email or text, so that it's on record. Kurt was not very helpful, he was condescending, and will not allow one to speak. He needs to be trained, in customer service and effective communication.
Having been recommended Michael Anthony by friends, I had hoped for a more positive experience than I’ve unfortunately had. Initial part of the process was great, with special thanks to the professionalism and help from both Tanya and Alex, but the handling of viewings was poor on occasion, with my requests being ignored and being left feeling like my house (and my wishes) were treated with a lack of respect. The sales and progression team have also been disappointing unfortunately. I wait days to get a half hearted response to queries and then am left in limbo with no actual answers and I’m left chasing again and again. Overall, I’ve found my dealings with them a mixed experience at best. Update (Sept 22) due to buyer pulling out at the last minute after 6 months of delays, house is back on the market. Agent overheard during a viewing telling the potential buyer who was talking about making an offer, that he thought another property was better than mine!! I am speechless. Not really fulfilling his job of ‘selling’ my property.
I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction regarding the handling of a viewing appointment for the one-bedroom property on Coppice Way, HP20 1XG. The experience I had with your agency was extremely disappointing and highly unprofessional. Initially, a viewing appointment was arranged, only for it to be cancelled by your office. Shortly afterwards, I was informed that the property was back on the market and was asked whether I would still like to attend a viewing. Despite the previous cancellation, I agreed and rearranged my schedule accordingly. I was then informed that the viewing time had been changed from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Before travelling, I specifically advised your staff that I would need to cancel another appointment in order to attend this viewing. I was nevertheless encouraged to proceed and assured that the viewing would take place. Upon arrival, slightly ahead of the scheduled time, I was informed that another applicant was viewing the property before us and that we should wait. Although that applicant was running late, we remained in our car as instructed, expecting to be called when it was our turn. Instead, after waiting, we received a call informing us that the property had been let to the previous applicant and that there was no point in us viewing it anymore. I find this treatment extremely disrespectful and discourteous. Not only was our time wasted, but we had also rearranged our commitments and travelled specifically for this appointment based on the information and assurances provided by your agency. What is particularly disappointing is that at no stage did anyone consider informing us sooner that an offer was being progressed or that the property might be taken before our viewing. Allowing prospective tenants to travel, wait outside the property, and then cancelling the viewing because the property has already been let demonstrates a significant lack of professionalism and consideration for your clients. This has been, without question, the worst experience I have had with a letting agency.
I strongly advise any students to NEVER sign a contract with RMA. Maintenance number doesn’t work, there are massive oversights on major problems such as internal and external water leaks into electrical sockets, no checks carried out on the property before move-in day so was in a dirty unkempt condition, and constant back and forth over issues that have been raised 6+ months prior.
An absolute disgrace, Rma will try and defraud you and steal your deposit. Silas Singh lied about having cleaning and repairs done tried to deduct £800 after I paid for a cleaner for a house that was a state when I moved in. He refused to even let me start the deposit dispute process so it took me nearly 4 months to get my deposit back. There are many other reviews stating the same. Avoid Rma at all costs.
This company is out to take your money. they do not return deposits and left me in a flooded house for weeks at a time without intervening. dis board was tripping repeatedly so power was not guaranteed. do NOT rent fro mthis company! over and out.
Before renting, I looked at these reviews and thought - well, I’m an experienced renter, if everything goes well, I’d have nothing to worry about. If you feel this way, PLEASE reconsider and save yourself the trouble. RMA does not value your time, take care of their properties, or have any semblance of competence. Worst of all, they WILL try to exploit you and take as much of your deposit as possible. After our agent (Emma Kearney) completely fumbled the replacement or a broken appliance, she ignored us for months until we moved out, at which point Silas Singh said they’d take £750 out of our deposit for it. Even trying to sort this out with the DPS is excruciating, as RMA takes a week to reply to any email that isn’t them asking you for money. In the end, the DPS resolved that we’d only pay £50! My advice to potential tenants is to seek out an agency less incompetent, negligent, and exploitative than RMA, i.e. any other agency in town. My advice to former tenants is to seek out the DPS and Property Ombudsman for compensation, as they were established to protect renters from this exact type of estate agent.
