This company is out to take your money. they do not return deposits and left me in a flooded house for weeks at a time without intervening. dis board was tripping repeatedly so power was not guaranteed. do NOT rent fro mthis company! over and out.
Before renting, I looked at these reviews and thought - well, I’m an experienced renter, if everything goes well, I’d have nothing to worry about. If you feel this way, PLEASE reconsider and save yourself the trouble. RMA does not value your time, take care of their properties, or have any semblance of competence. Worst of all, they WILL try to exploit you and take as much of your deposit as possible. After our agent (Emma Kearney) completely fumbled the replacement or a broken appliance, she ignored us for months until we moved out, at which point Silas Singh said they’d take £750 out of our deposit for it. Even trying to sort this out with the DPS is excruciating, as RMA takes a week to reply to any email that isn’t them asking you for money. In the end, the DPS resolved that we’d only pay £50! My advice to potential tenants is to seek out an agency less incompetent, negligent, and exploitative than RMA, i.e. any other agency in town. My advice to former tenants is to seek out the DPS and Property Ombudsman for compensation, as they were established to protect renters from this exact type of estate agent.
f you don’t want to spend months arguing with them over your deposit after moving out, don’t consider renting any property managed by RMA. They’re known for finding excuses to deduct deposits, and their staff are very unprofessional and unfriendly.
I have had the worst experience with RMA. I had issues with my roommate and they never took action. I felt so helpless and from my point of view they are so unprofessional and so not willing to help. I will definitely avoid RMA in the future.
I rented through RMA for three years and would strongly advise against using them if you have any choice. During the tenancy, communication was consistently poor. Maintenance requests were dealt with very slowly, and contractors often turned up without any notice at random times. The check-out process has been unbelievably bad. A full month after moving out, I have still received no communication about my deposit, despite calling daily and being told I need to speak to my property manager (Silas), who never returns calls. When moving out, I specifically asked to be told within seven days if a reclean was required so I could send back the professional cleaners. Instead, RMA waited until 5:05pm on the final day—when the free reclean window had already expired—to tell us one was needed. I had no choice but to pay an additional fee to send the cleaners back, which I did to ensure the property was left in good order. Even the landlord has since confirmed the property was in good condition, yet I am still waiting for any update on the deposit return. I will now have to go through the DPS as RMA are unwilling to return the deposit. If you have any choice, avoid renting with RMA.
They delayed our deposit forever, and then took off random charges saying we damaged the wall (when we didn’t) and a £700+ cleaning fee when the house was left clean. Very unprofessional, avoid RMA properties!
The agents themselves never replied to emails and when the deposit was due to be given back for our tenancy they took a very long time to give the details of the issues with the house - these issues included charging us for cleaning for a cupboard full of the landlords junk which was there at the start of the tenancy! STAY AWAY they will most definitely over charge u for the deposit at the end
If you rent from this agency, expect to get scammed out of your money at the end of the tenancy. RMA tried to deduct £1315 from our deposit (between 4 of us) at the end of the tenancy for cleaning, damages to the walls, left items and for light bulbs. Luckily, we had taken photos of the flat when we had moved in so we could prove that all of these things were there when we arrived. After MONTHS of stressful and extensive negotiation we managed to get them to redact everything except the cleaning costs. If we had not taken photos at the beginning of the tenancy they would have scammed us out of £1315 as we would not have been able to prove it. The flat was dirty when we moved in, and we cleaned it to at the least the standard that it was at the beginning of the tenancy (as is our legal obligation). However, RMA refused to redact this and the only way we could get the money back is if we took legal action. They tried to persuade us it was a good deal at £120 per room for cleaning, even though the rooms were already clean. Considering the flat was dirty when we moved in, I can only conclude the cleaner does nothing and is capitalising off the exorbitant rate they can change for end of tenancy cleanings. I'm pretty sure they routinely send in "professional" cleaners without even checking the state of the property and automatically deduct cleaning fees no matter what you do. On the day of check out, RMA had requested to bring the key back and to do a check out inventory of the property at a specific time on the last day of the tenancy. I stayed an extra day just to make this appointment, but they did not turn up. We had the legal right to attend the check out, but they denied us this. The manager seems to think if he works his charm he can loosen up people to the idea of being scammed. They also took 3x as long as the contract states to send back the deposit deductions. This is just one of the ways they violated the tenancy agreement. In addition to all this, in the middle of the tenancy an agent from RMA came into the flat and insisted on taking multiple photos of the insides of our rooms, which was a gross violation of our privacy. I have lived in 3 student houses before this one, and never had these issues, this is not normal or justified behaviour.
Absolutely awful company do not use them for housing. Have never responded to rat infestations in Garden. Dirty everything. Broken carpet treads and so many more. They are impossible to yet ahold of and Robin ignores emails.
