Unbelievable how my Parents could be charged £160. cleaning bill at the end of tenancy. They left the house so Immaculate .It was supposed of been cleared before they moved in by a professional cleaning company but it was not cleaned to a high standard by any means and my husband spent nearly 4 hours cleaning the oven. Oh and nothing was replaced, just cleaned to high standard by my family. Shame on you 😤

Absolutely horrendous. So unhelpful and clearly didn’t want our custom. I wouldn’t recommend and I will be taking it further. Erin was on her phone through our viewing completely uninterested in us and continued to not bother to get back to us for almost a week. I understand in the current situation that less people are at work, but if you can’t continue to give a good level of service then don’t keep yourselves open.

My daughter and her partner had a viewing on a property with Erin from the Yeovil office recently and were very interested. After calling on several occasions and leaving messages for Erin and emailing they have had no response. Even other people they have spoken to have been unhelpful. Definitely wouldn’t recommend!!

Previously this was a 5 star review - however, after the shocking end of tenancy service I have received I feel that I could never recommend Martin & Co, in particular the Yeovil branch, to anyone again. The amount of money they deducted from my deposit, having admitted that they provided the property in "not ideal" shape to start with, for "dusting" and a "non-professional standard of cleaning" and having increased my rent half way through my tenancy, I would avoid this agency in future - they are an unexpected set of costs and a headache waiting to happen, the niceness of the properties is not worth it.

Dear Samuel, we are sorry hear at Martin & Co that you felt the negotiations over the need for additional cleaning of your flat were unfair or demonstrated poor customer service. At no point were you not kept fully informed or given the option to formally dispute the Landlord's claim for costs to replace the light bulbs you left not working or to clear up the areas of the flat that you had not cleaned including the toilet and shower. All communications with you have been polite and quick and all statutory regulations were adhered to with regards deposit procedures.

AVOID AT ALL COST. Rented a flat through them, when I reported about walls being covered in mould it took 6 weeks before anyone took any notice and came and had a look. The only reason they then allowed myself and my partner to rent a different property through them and leave our tenancy early was because environmental health were involved as they weren’t doing anything to help. The place was a health hazard! They are now trying to say we left the flat in a bad way, but we left it to best of our capabilities due to the mould on the walls. They are asking us to go back and clean the flat, but as I’ve told them myself and my partner are self isolating and can’t due to following the government guidelines regarding covid-19. Apparently that’s not a good enough answer and are now trying to take £200 of our deposit away to cover cost, this is not fair considering we can’t clean that flat at present!! They don’t care about you, they only care about the money they make, they lie (as bad originally said we could get all of our deposit back) and are untrustworthy. The way we have and are still being treated is an absolute shambles. Will be telling everyone to avoid this lettings agency so they don’t have to go through the stress we have!!!

The fact is that you left your flat at 5 Berkeley Road in an unsatisfactory standard of cleanliness, and we have to act on behalf of our landlord to ensure it is returned to a good standard. We also find your comments frustrating since we assisted you in moving to your new home, recommending you to your new landlord. It is very easy to put a one-sided argument on social media about an anonymous company, however, everyone at Martin & Co was only trying to assist you, which we will continue to do in your new home to the best of our abilities. Very difficult to even arrange a viewing with let alone the agent who dose the viewing for you actually seeming interested. How they manage to rent properties out to anyone is beyond me. Rude staff and don't bother to respond to emails either
