I contacted Kings Estate Agents after seeing them advertise that they were actively looking for properties to sell. I asked if they would represent my home, only to receive a haughty email to say that my Property didn’t reach The calibre of the kind of property they wanted to market and they were at capacity only wanting to focus on premium properties. I found this both surprising and disappointing. My property is a well-presented two-bedroom ground floor conversion with off-road parking in a desirable central Tunbridge Wells location, and Kings regularly market similar properties. To make matters more confusing, the very next day I saw them advertising on Facebook asking for more properties to sell. I completely understand that every estate agent has the right to choose which instructions they take on. However, I was left feeling disregarded and that my property wasn’t worthy of their time. A more considerate and transparent explanation would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend them.

Reply from Kings Estates - Tunbridge Wells: Thank you for the feedback, Cleo, and I'm genuinely sorry the decline landed this way. I've re-read what we sent, and I'd gently correct one thing: our decision had nothing to do with your home's calibre — those words weren't ours. At the time of your enquiry we weren't taking on any new leasehold flat instructions at all, purely a question of workload: leasehold sales carry significant extra legal legwork, and we'd rather decline than take on a sale we can't give proper attention. The advertising you saw reflects our core market of house sales, where we did have capacity. You deserved a fuller explanation than one email, and I'd be glad to give it — 01892 533367 asks for Mike. Wishing you a smooth sale.
