Very disappointing behaviour — Strongly advise avoiding Breckon & Breckon We have had an utterly exhausting and deeply disappointing experience with Breckon & Breckon lettings during our tenancy renewal for a property in New Hinksey. The agency demanded a rent increase of £150/month, insisting it reflected market value. Yet, their own "Best Price Guide" showed we were already paying above the local market average. Facing an artificially inflated demand, we had no choice but to serve notice to vacate — an unbelievably stressful and disruptive situation to be put through, especially with my wife being pregnant at the time. To our absolute shock, immediately after we gave notice, they re-listed the property publicly at £200/month lower than what they demanded from us, and £50/month less than our original rent. When we complained, staff initially admitted the mistake, telling us "we will of course look to rectify this". But in the end, they took zero accountability, brushing off the sudden price drop in their Final Viewpoint Letter as simple "market fluctuations" over a matter of weeks. Pushing out good, reliable tenants with misleading rent demands— only to drop the price for someone else the second we said we had to leave fells utterly rubbish (for both tenants and landlords alike). The lack of empathy and basic professionalism during an already vulnerable time for our family was appalling! We are taking this matter to The Property Ombudsman (TPO). I strongly recommend both prospective tenants and landlords to steer clear from Breckon & Breckon.
