I had Harrisons estate agents do the sale of my house and at first they were very good, but that did not last, the solicitor that they recommended to my buyer was completely useless and had absolutely no conception of time and nor were they bothered I had to constantly keep calling Harrisons to ask what was going on and wear we were, as to the sale of the house the lady at Harrisons told me that its the solicitor holding things up, I will talk them today this was the case every week I would call them and the lady told me she would call the solicitor, I wasn't sure if I was being fobbed off but do know that the sale should gone through much quicker, my buyers mortgage offer ran out, but the buyer was able to extend it for another mouth but again the estate agent could not get the solicitor to get the sale through to and again the mortgage offer ran out so the mortgage again had to extend it, and again I kept calling Harrisons estate agent to ask what was going on and again she would tell me that the solicitor was holding things up I asked what sort things were holding things up, it turned out after talking to the solicitor myself that they had not heard from the estate agents, but when I put this to them they assured me that they had been in touch with the solicitor so I don't know who was to blame, the out come was that the sale fell through and I lost my buyer, after a week or so I looked up the buyer on Face book after a brief chat I asked them if they would consider renting my house for a year as they could not get a mortgage because of the down trend of the mini budget of 2022 and the interest rate rises there wage slips did not stack up enough fund a mortgage, so giving them a year to let things settle would be help full. after 10 months they had managed to get another mortgage and were again ready to buy my house, my solicitor was still in place but did say to the buyer don't use the same solicitor that the estate agent recommended I believe that were one of the reasons why the first sale did not complete the other was that the estate again did not make sure that things were being done in reasonable time, and were not keeping on top of things. the sale went through very smoothly and only took a couple of months we did not use the estate agent at all and as far as I was concerned the estate agent were not involved what so ever and were not even contacted throughout the sale procedure. it was about 2 weeks after I had received the money for the property that the estate agent emailed me demanding their fee of £6000.00 + I told them that the sale that they were managing fell through and I had emailed them to say that we no longer required their services long before the sale went through, the estate agent Harrison told me that they would take legal action if I did not pay their fees within 7 days.as they did introduce the buyer to the property 2 years early. So on this basis I do not rate Harrisons homes estate agent at all and would not recommend these as a good agent at all and feel that the agent is very greedy and did not do a good job. Nigel Ingram
