We have looked into your case and unfortunately the issue was indeed due to an incorrect tenancy start date confirmed by your letting agent. Our utilities partner contacted the council, water company and current energy supplier (Npower) to inform them that you are a new tenant based on the start date supplied by the letting agent. This is something they are contracted to do by your letting agent, however they didn’t set up any new accounts for you as you declined assistance with your energy. Npower would have been in touch to request that you set up an account with them as they were the current supplier, but this is likely to have been before Octopus were able to initiate the switch to them as your chosen supplier as it can take a few weeks to transfer. As soon as you notified us that we had been given an incorrect date, we immediately sent a revised move-in date to the council and utilities suppliers, but it can take a few days for them to acknowledge and apply the changes. We apologise for any confusion and have contacted your letting agent to remind them that tenancy start dates must be correct to prevent this from happening in the future.
