Extremely disappointing experience dealing with Sawyer & Co on a purchase in Brighton. Our main point of contact was Bob Beaken, and communication throughout was poor - basic management pack queries went unchased for weeks, information was mixed and kept changing, and updates were inconsistent. The low point came when, after a brief and entirely reasonable visit to discuss timings with the seller, I received a call from Bob lecturing me about the visit rather than helping resolve the underlying delays that had caused the frustration in the first place. The seller withdrew from the sale shortly afterwards, at which point I'd have expected a competent, professional agent to be working to keep the sale together rather than adding friction to an already stressed situation. We had cash in hand and were ready to proceed quickly. The lack of proactive, professional handling from this agency made an already difficult process worse. Can't recommend

We had the misfortune of using Sawyer & Co in Brighton to sell our property, and it has been nothing short of a nightmare. When we first approached them, they promised us they were the best, that they would handle everything, and that the process would be smooth. In reality, it was the complete opposite. It took them months to find a buyer, and once they finally did, we were constantly misled about the timeline. They assured us completion was imminent, only for it to drag on for another four months. Throughout this time, communication was appalling – emails often went unanswered, and when they did respond, they were dismissive, unprofessional, and at times outright rude. To make matters worse, Sawyer & Co held the only key to the property, and the day before the supposed completion, they suddenly demanded I get work done on the house. I was forced to pay to have this done within 24 hours, only to then discover that the completion had been delayed yet again. A particularly unpleasant experience was dealing with Bob, who was often rude, unhelpful, and clearly more interested in getting paid than in providing any real service. The promises made at the start were completely abandoned once they had our business. Overall, this has been a disgraceful experience from start to finish. If you are thinking of selling your property, I strongly recommend avoiding Sawyer & Co – save yourself the stress, wasted time, and frustration.
