I would not recommend this agency at all. Act like your best friend at the viewing, but we had issues before our tenancy even started. Our move in date was delayed initially by a week to which we were told at 4pm on Friday (due to move in on the Monday). After this we had multiple delays which meant we were unable to move in for over a month. Each time being told on the Friday in the afternoon before each proposed Monday move in date. We were essentially made homeless and had no fixed address at this time. One instance I had to chase Martin and Co multiple times to ensure that we were moving in and they confirmed we were not (again Friday afternoon). We had signed a contract to move in but by the time we did the move in date was over a month in the past. The landlord was living in the property at the time but obviously didn’t want the hassle of finding temporary accommodation like we were forced to (4 times). During this period the letting agent failed to get my partners name correct on multiple occasions, sometimes when the email they were replying to was signed off by her. When I arrived at the office at the agreed time to finally collect the keys I was greeted with “what are you here for” When explaining I was there to collect the keys, the agent again got my partners name incorrect. The house we moved into had a damp issue which I did raise with the landlord and the response was “yeah that just happens”. During the tenancy they were fine (none existent) and had no major issues. Upon leaving we spent a lot of time tidying the flat but we were charged a £241 “cleaning fee”. Upton receiving the invoice for cleaning, the hours spent cleaning did not match up to the time indicated that the cleaner arrived and left and the invoice had no breakdown of what was cleaned and was simply noted as “additional add ons” which is really poor. When we asked what it was they said they would ask the landlord, we had no reply regarding this. The most annoying part of this was we had made multiple fixes to the property as it didn’t look like anyone had ever heard of a wall plug, amongst a few other things. But trying to be a good tenant just did them myself. Looking back I shouldn’t have bothered. When trying to get the deposit back we didn’t want the hassle of disputing the claim as we needed the money and to get a reply can only be described as “painful”. It took 4 emails and a phone call just to get a reply where we were told they thought “they had done this” they had not. Was really disappointed with almost every interaction we had with Martin and Co.

If google allows "no star", I would not give any. So, one star is too much.
Unprofessional, incompetent, patronising staff. 1 star seems too much. Incapable of responding to emails. Brought in squatters into our property and refusing to take any responsibility for the issues we've had. They've not even paid a months rent. We have no confirmation of the deposit paid either other than just their word.

My apartment Got neglected under their care and I end up paying all the cost to get it back to the standard it was in before I gave it to Martin &co they did not do any checks on the flat while tenants was living there my tenants complained that when ever we need help there is no response from them I could go on and on and on it was a nightmare. I never get any information out of them regardless how many times I call them in the last 2 years my tenants was start to call me for any help they need but I still have to pay every month to Martin &co I have been chasing for some money which I was due to get it back from them which never arrived to me it’s been a few month , They never get back to me like they say they will. I am constantly having to fight for things to be done. Their agency fees are considerably higher than others. It's money for nothing! If You are a landlord I wouldn't use them. Thanks to Martin and Co not regularly inspecting the property’s under their care my flat has been ruined! The staff working in the office have a don't care attitude. I would never advise anyone to use them use another agency please!

a friend of mine was renting 7 Vicars Road, for about £1000 pcm. He moved out in December but Martin & Co charged £300 for a supposed furniture removal, turns out the furniture is still being used by the occupants of the house. Last but not least, the house had damp problems in the kitchen but the landlord refused to do anything about it same with the letting agency. I don’t recommend using Martin & Co for things like this.
